This item is a vintage Japanese trinket jar, I believe. It is green with a colonial couple on the top of the piece. On the inside there are flowers on the inside of both the lid and the container. It has a brass ring around the lid and container, with a brass clasp. It is really nice. It does have one small blemish in the green paint. It is about 0.125 inches X 1.25 inches. It is very small and does not take away from the look. I have attached pictures. If you have questions, please e-mail. Thanks. Lurleen

Charles Fuhrmann came to Curaçao as a young man in 1929 to escape persecution and seek his fortune. Almost immediately he met and began working with Wolf Spritzer, a Jewish watchmaker from Hungary who had arrived on the island two years earlier. Spritzer's small workshop was no more than a tiny room in the offices of a successful local ship chandler, with separate spaces for watch repair and jewelry making. As business grew in the 1930s they opened a second shop on Curaçao; the island's first modern jewelry store, it had an expanded selection of merchandise showcased in elegant displays. Soon they also added an optical department. World War II boosted their business; US and European servicemen stationed on both islands were an eager and captive clients, as were the crews of the many vessels that called. It was after the war that Spritzer a full 90% of the store's sales occurred during the cruise high season, December through April. A boutique was even opened in midtown Manhattan, New York, just off Fifth Avenue, where items purchased at any of the Caribbean affiliates were repaired free of charge.

Direct from my own collection, exclusively to the internet comes this wonderful antique Limoges set. Each piece measuring approximately 4 1/4 across, this authentic art nouveau treasure dates back quite a few years...it is NOT A REPRODUCTION!. I'm not sure, but they were probably made to go on a vanity or dresser...perhaps even as part of a larger vanity set. There's a lovely long oval trinket box or dish and a curvey matching pin tray both made by this most desireable French company. Both pieces are a rich creamy porcelain with the inside of the box a swirly almost pyschedelic lustre ware type finish. It was difficult to catch the purples and other iridescent colors, but they are there and are a nice touch. The two pieces are just screaming of the Art Nouveau period with a total of four hand painted pastel butterflies on them. The back of the little tray is marked with the Limoges mark as well as the artist's signature. They are as follows SEYNE LIMOGES FRANCE E.Glade The oval piece is marked as follows D. , FRANCE . This unique period piece is in excellent condition and without damage or repair. I seldom see such appealing artist signed Limoges...especially authentic Nouveau period items. Perfect to go with your Alfonse Mucha artwork, this is a vanity set sure to appeal to the pickiest of collectors!
Purchased this year on the streets of Paris comes this lovely cut crystal round vanity piece that can be used for pwder or trinkets. It measures about 4 7/8 in diameter and is -nearly 2 tall. I'm unsure of its exact date or origin, but the lovely cut design looks like it is art deco period. The jar has a starburst or sunburst type design in the top and bottom with splendid cutting on the sides and top that match. It is in excellent condition with the desired wear on the bottom to show it was a well loved piece that is NOT a reproduction. A superb example of European or French glass, this is offered for less than my price while in France. I couldn't find a maker's mark on it, but it is as nice as many signed pieces.
