Antique Brown Transferware Pitcher Washbowl Doulton Opaque
WOW what a fabulous RARE SET for any Collector of True Antiques. These two pieces are not original to each other but they are an excellent marriage and do look like they belong together. They are both Antique and are HUGE, an extremely large set. The Pitcher is marked Opaque Porcelain and was manufactured approximately 1884 in Trenton, NJ by the American Willets Company. The Washbowl was manufactured in 1872, in Buslem, England. Both pieces are Brown Transferware with Inlay Gold Highlights. The Pitcher has 2 tight hairlines near the spout and one long tight hairline across the body of one side. This has been expertly secured with metal staples used to prevent it from getting any worse and the repair appears to have been done many many years ago. The heavy brown transferware floral design makes it unnoticeable. The Bowl is truly fanatasic, again with Gold highlights in the Brown Transferware. It has one tight crack on the side of the bowl and a rim chip on the bottom where it sits, and thats it. Both pieces are quite remarkable for their age so hoping for a good home with someone that will truly appreciate them. The white background of the Bowl is a little bit darker than the white background of the Pitcher when you look at them seperately, but when put together it looks like a matching set. Absolutely Gorgeous.
