A bountiful garden of red and burgundy roses mixed with blue, violet, and white wildflowers sprouts forth on the petit point needlepoint lid of this 1940's French powder compact. The gilt brass design is 2 7/8 in diameter. Inside, the lid has a glass mirror, the base has a removable powder sifting screen. Made in France is stamped on the upper lid. Condition is very fine. A vintage Yardley English Lavender gift set, probably a Christmas set. The set consists of a full-size tin of talc, 2 bars of lavender soap in paper wrappers and a wrapped cake of Compressed Lavender Blossom Sachet. Box measures 8 1/2 x 5 3/4 , the talcum tin measures 4 5/8 tall. Soaps are still intensely fragrant! The original purchase price sticker of $1.50 from Fay's Toiletries is on the underside of the talc. All products appear unused. The set is sold as a collectible and not intended for actual use of the 60+ year old products. Condition: The outer box is sturdy and clean, there is a split corner at back right, and the front corners show wear. Interior of box is clean with no damage but light discolorations at the bottom edges of the soap compartments. The outer band-wrapper around one soap has been opened, a dab of glue would reseal it. Slight discoloration on the sachet and one soap wrapper, as if the oils inside leached into the wrapper paper. Talc is near mint, with very slight wear to the finish at the top shoulder areas that touch/rub on the box. The whistling, bare-footed boy with the 7 1/2 inch long plastic fishing pole made to resemble a tree branch is a charming Avon figurine decanter. The young fisherman stands 8 1/4 inches tall, and is painted in varying brown and beige tones. The boy's upper body portion is a plastic construction. His sportin' fishing hat is yellow, and he appears not to have a single care in the world. In appearance, the fishing boy is a reminder of such story book characters as Tom Sawyer. The decanter is in terrific shape with no damage issues, and has its original Avon, Catch A Fish label under the base. Would make for a fine display for the great outdoorsman.

Early graphic tin container from Du Barry dusting powder, manufactured by Richard Hudnut. Tin is 5 1/4 x 4 1/4 x 2 1/2 high. Condition: Tin displays nicely. Top of tin has lost it's gloss finish, there is one tiny edge-bend on lid, otherwise no damage. Some light scuffs and a couple small scratches thru paint on sides of tin. A vintage handpainted beauty of a porcelain keepsake box or potpourri with delicate open design of flowers and hearts encompassing the surface of the round box and lid. The piece stands 4 1/4 inches tall to the top of the raised pink roses, green leaves, and ribbon design on the lid. The opening across the top of the box measures 3 3/4 inches. The lid has a ruffled edge painted in blue and each of the open design flowers and hearts is painted in blue or gold around the inside edge, too. There are four wedge shaped feet under the round box which is marked both under the lid and underneath the base G MM in blue stamp mark. Although we have not been able to identify the maker of this fine keepsake box or potpourri container, we are certain of the fine quality craftsmanship that produced this lovely piece, and it is without any cracks, chips, or nicks.

Simple roundgold tone compact with a mother of pearl top. It measures 2 3/4 inches in diameter. The inside and mirror are in very good condition, it still has its puff and some left over powder. The outside shows some slight wear.

This lovely little trinket box is silverplated with a red velvet lining. It is in very good condition and is embossed with an allover patter of scrolls and grapes. The box measures 1 1/2 inches tall by 2 1/2 inches in diameter. It is very clean and is marked, JAPAN, on the bottom.

This is a terrific and complete vanity set for the bathroom with three butterflies that are 3 inches tall and 3 inches wide, a 5 inch in diameter wooden and ceramic medallion to hang on the wall, a rose bowl or potpourri bowl that stands 3 inches tall, and a 4 1/2 inch tall ceramic pitcher. All of these pieces have an ivory, cream colored background with a decoration of pink roses and leaves. A classy, simple elegance on this vanity set which has foil labels in place stating Lasting Products, USA, and hand painted. There are no cracks, chips, or nicks on these pieces.
