Vintage Ballantine Beer & Ale Round 12" Tray
Vintage Ballantine Beer the Three-Ring Sign . In the logo used in advertising, the rings were labeled Purity, Body, Flavor . According to one legend, Peter Ballantine was inspired to use the pattern after seeing condensation rings left by beer glasses on a tabletop. Bottles of Ballantine's can be seen in photos of American World War II aviators debriefing on Iwo Jima after a raid against Tokyo. Team announcers, most notably the legendary Mel Allen, labeled Yankee home runs, Ballantine Blasts. New York Yankees broadcasts featured commercials with the jingle, Baseball and Ballantine/ Baseball and Ballantine/ What a combination/ All across the nation/ Ballantine, Ballantine beer. Ballantine also sponsored the PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES on radio and TV for many years in the 1950s and 1960s. The scoreboard in right center field at Philadelphia's Connie Mack Stadium (previously known as Shibe Park) sported a 60-foot-long (18 m) Ballantine Ale sign. Ballantine was the preferred beer of MARTIN CRANE on the television show FRASIER. He drinks the pale ale in almost every episode, usually from the can. It is rumored that the famous drummer JOHN BONHAM of hard rock band Led Zeppelin used the logo of Ballantine beer as a high influence to create his symbol . Shipping is $7.95 USA Domestic Priority Package (3 days).

Heering, Copenhagen, Denmark , and smaller words on the topside bottom, 49 Proof. Schenley Import Corporation, New York . The gold background colored tray in the center top also has four appointment emblems, each with slightly different graphics, kind of in pairs , all with words at bottom of the emblems stating By Appointment to and then four different royal personages, H.M. King Gustaf V , H.M. King Frederik IX , H.M. King George VI and H.M. The Queen of the Netherlands . There are no words around outer edge or on backside. Round metal tray measuring 13 3/8 inches, this tray is flatter than most beer or alcohol trays, only having a depth of about 3/4 inch, with the outer rim being a flatter, less rounded edging. Our camera had trouble focusing with this one, so we apologize for the blurriness, but you can still get the basic idea in our two images of the top and bottom sides. This tray is very usable and hangable, but definitely not mint. It has a lot of dirt/pitting/scraping/scratching/overall wear on the topside, with some wear on bottom (not bad here). Also has 3 molded hand holds on bottom as you can see in the image.

Tray in very nice used condition, but while very usable and hangable, it is not mint. There are a few scratches to white in the letters h and m of Schmidt's on topside, as well as an easily visible small brown line scraped area in upper center right and some light brown spotting within and near the words Light Beer . There is much other scrapes/scratches/spotting wear that you really don't see until looking at an angle in bright light, but it is there. Couroc Of California Blue Bird Oval Handled Tray
Couroc of California pieces were the wedding and shower present of choice from 1950's to the 1980's. Couroc was located in Monterey, California and produced many different types and shapes of trays, boxes, ashtrays and glass barware. The company was founded by Guthrie Courvoisier, owner of Courvoisier Galleries in San Francisco in 1948, Courvoisier worked for Disney prior to founding his company. While working for Disney he designed the first commercially available animation cels, these cels are still known as Courvoisier Cels. His wife, Moira Wallace was a designer and was involved in the designing and manufacturing of the Couroc designs, on rare occasions she personally signed her work. Courac employed many skilled artisans during the early years, the artists carefully arranged bits and pieces of common metal items such as springs, screws, glitter, safety pins and paper clips, shells, corral, woods and coins into a special material called black satin black phenolic. This material is resistant to alcohol and boiling water, but is not dishwasher safe. Couroc's founder died in the 1970's and the company was sold several times before ceasing production in 1990. The pattern on this tray features a blue bird with a red breast seated on branch with red leaves, this pattern is not a commonly found one. This tray is a seldom seen shape, it is an oval shape with handles, it is almost 15 inches long and 9 3/4 inches across, in very good, gently used condition. It has the original gold label on the back and would be an excellent addition to your collection or decor, please see my other listing for additional pieces of Couroc in this pattern as well as other patterns.

In 1850, Samuel Liebmann emigrated to the U.S. The family settled in Brooklyn and Samuel, together with his three sons, Joseph, Henry, and Charles, opened a brewery at the corner of Forest and Bremen Streets. The company was already flourishing by the time of Samuel's death in 1872. F&m Schaefer Red Beer Tray
This wonderful red beer tray advertising Schaefer Beer is marked: The F & M Schaefer Brewing Co. Brooklyn, N.Y. / T.M.Amer.Can.Co. / Canco / Reg.US Pat.Off. F.& M, as most breweriana buffs know, stands for Frederick and Maximilian, the brothers who founded Schaefer. Frederick Schaefer, a native of Wetzlar, Prussia, Germany, emigrated to the U.S. in 1838. Within two weeks of his landing, Frederick took a job with Sebastian Sommers, who operated a small brewhouse on Broadway. The next year his younger brother, Maximilian, decided to make the trip across the Atlantic also. He arrived in June of 1839 and brought with him a formula for lager, a type of beer popular in Germany but unheard of in the United States. The brothers dreamed, and planned, and saved and in the late summer of 1842 they were able to buy the small brewery from Sommers. The official, and historic, starting date was September, 1842. The brothers wisely decided to build yet another new plant, and to locate it in an area where they could expand as needed. Their search took them to what were then the wilds of uptown Manhattan. In 1849 the brewery, lock, stock and many barrels, was moved to Fourth Ave. (now Park Avenue) and 51st Street. Here, just north of Grand Central Station, the Schaefers brewed for the next 67 years, ever-expanding their plant. on January 22, 1976 when Robert W. Lear, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The F. & M. Schaefer Corp., announced the closing of the Brooklyn New York City plant, very sad for the city that's had a love affair with Schaefer lager for over 134 years. From the 1950's, in very good condition, there are scratches and wear from age, which I have tried to show in my pictures and it measures 13 1/2 inches in diameter. Scheidts Beer Ale Tray, marked 'Scheidts, Valley Forge Beer, Rams Head Ale, Norristown PA.' with full color picture of Washington hot spots in the images are reflection from the camera lighting on the metal surfaces). Also, none of this is unexpected given the age and probable use of this tray. There are no major dents, cracks, bends, etc. Regardless still very presentable, collectable and usable. If you look closely at an angle in bright light you'll see many flaws to the center decor, but otherwise they are not apparent, and most wouldn't see them. However, these flaws from use/age include many rubbed areas, scratches, lines, dots, etc. What is apparent on general viewing is some wear to the upper red tray rim, particularly one spot about 3/4 inch in width where you see silver from the red paint being worn away. Elsewhere on the rim you can see silver lines, dots, etc. The most wear is visible on the blue bottom of the tray, as to be expected. There are scratch lines, dots, rubbed wear, etc. On the outer blue side to the tray there is some evidence of wear but not bad, but on close looking you will see some scratches, rubbed spots, dots, etc.
