Great Expectations Antiques

Circa: early 1900's
Condition: Good++
Manufacturer: Not Marked
Offering this quality antique, 1" wide cutting edge, carpenter's timber framing slick/chisel which is not marked by the original maker by name, but we do note that we can see parts of the lettering of the original mark and the letters CO are visiable. Judging by the rounded back shape and the hardened steel lamination to the upper softer steel, we believe this to be a top quality edge tool. There is about 4.5" of the hardened steel intact for future cutting edge sharpening, which is decades of future use if the user is careful as the hardened steel holds a quality edge that last.  The steel from cutting edge to end of the socket is 11.4" long, and including the handle is 15.3" long. Although this carpenter slick has some dings and pitting on the steel surfaces, it is in usable shape on the bottom cutting edge area with pitting on less than 10% of the bottom surface, no pitting or dings within an inch of the current cutting edge. The edge is sharp, ready to use. The handle appears to be in near new condition, very solid with a good leather capped end.. A top quality, good useable antique heavy duty chisel!
