THE BEAD SOCIETY OF GREATER CHICAGO is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation and an IRC Section 501© (7) organization. The society was founded in 1989 and is dedicated to the study, discussion and exchange of information about beads and beadwork. Its objective is to educate its members and the general public about the historic and artistic importance of beads and beadwork.

Membership privileges include meeting lectures, reduced workshop fees, book sale discounts, newsletter subscription, use of library books and materials and invitations to members only events.

Meetings of the society are held at 7:00 PM on the second Thursday of the month at the St. Joseph Parish Life Building, 5000 North Cumberland, Chicago (one mile south of I90 / Cumberland exit), September through June except December which is usually off-site. Monthly meetings feature an informative lecture on beads, beadwork or a related subject followed by a lively interchange among attendees. Non-members are invited to attend meetings for a $5 admisssion charge.
