If there is one thing I wish more people would understand, it's that good quality antiques and collectible pieces not only make wonderful gifts for any occasion; they also represent a wise investment. Few things that are new will ever immediately go up in value. To regain even their original worth an item must survive for long enough to be deemed an antique. Until a piece has become sufficiently rare, or unusual enough to be worth collecting, it’s value can only go down, or at best remain unchanged. By the same token any quality antique item, if bought wisely and cared for properly, can pretty much be counted on to be worth more tomorrow than it was yesterday.
