Manufacturer: Measuring Tins
Neat find out of a home, a vintage tin measuring pitcher, cup or can for liquids. This has 4 level markings shown via raised ridges on the exterior and indented ridges on the interior, which are also marked with raised abbreviations/words on the exterior: 1/2 Pt (Pint), 1 Pt, 1 1/2 Pt and 1 Qt Liq (for 1 Quart Liquid). There is a large curved spout for pouring and a side curved holding handle.
Measures about 5 3/8 inches tall, about 6 1/2 inches greatest width from outer tip of the spout to outer edge of the holding handle, with a diameter to the circular top (and same size circular base) of about 4 1/8 inches. There is no manufacturer name on this piece, but on the underside base in raised letters it states "For Household Use Only" in a circular fashion. There is a tied leather piece around the base of the handle which may be original or may have been attached by the former owner for ease in hanging, we're not sure, but we have left this (you could easily cut this off if you don't wish it there).
We've provided 8 images to show from all sides including the top and bottom views. These were shot using the camera lighting which can cause white "hot spots" on the tin surface and changes or lightens the coloring a lot. This piece is dark gray in color in person, with all-over tarnishing lines/spots/areas. You don't see the tarnishing well in the images shot with the camera light, so we included one shot without the light, this appears yellow but provides a better idea of the dark tarnishing. None of these images, though, show the exact coloring you will see in person. The second image comes the closest, but it is still darker in person than this image could show. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.
Old used vintage condition which shows its age & use wear. There are no chips, cracks, pieces missing that we see. Beyond the dark tarnishing, there is rust evident on this piece, largely on the interior and exterior of the spout and handle, but there are also rust spots on the interior of the can and elsewhere. This is not all-over rusted, but rust is present. The old tin shows other expected use wear via scratches, rubbed spots, red paint dotting on the outside and underside of the spout and on the handle, other general wear. It may be that the handle was resoldered, as there is a large soldering spot at the handle base and other soldering across the handle top (but the handle is firmly attached). This old kitchen piece has a good bit of use wear that supports believability of age and adds to the vintage look.
A good addition to any collection of vintage kitchen utensils, gadgets, tools, etc., or one specifically related to old tin kitchen items, baking or measuring utensils. Would also look fun on display in a bakery or restaurant or repurposed for other decor/uses.
Please note that we have many other kitchen items listed separately for sale. If you wish to purchase more than one, please e-mail us before placing the order since the shipping information has been inputted for a purchase of just one and will not calculate the savings you would get when purchasing more than one shipped together in the same package (we would be pleased to handle this for you). |
