3753

Hand Painted Magenta Stylized Rose Urn Lamp Base This classic urn shaped ceramic lamp bases is one of the prettiest, most visually appealing I've ever seen. It has a hand painted stylized rose in the center, outlined in gold. The body is off-white, the foot and neck are a lovely shade of purple magenta luster. The scrolly double handles are trimmed in gold.

The base is not wired or fitted with a socket. but it's easy enough to buy a lamp components kit at any home improvement or hardware store. It stands a little over 13" tall and is 5" diameter at the base by about 7" wide at the handle wings. There are no chips, cracks, flakes, crazing or other damage. There is some wear to the gold trim at the handles, and the glaze has some intentional color variations and shading that may give the appearance of wear and age at first glance. The handles are glazed that way too, so it's difficult to tell whether the gold wear is real or made to look that way. The heavy urn base is marked only with the letter B impressed inside.

Circa: 1940s
Manufacturer: B Mark

5550

Pink Roses Ruffled Glass Lamp Shade and Ceiling Light Fixture This pretty hand painted ruffled glass lamp shade globe comes with a plain brass colored ceiling light fixture and cap mount but it can be used in a floor or table lamp as well. It's white milk glass but the outside is entirely tinted pale pink. Sprays of pink roses and rosebuds with green leaves decorate the outside center below the crimped rim. The shade is 5" high by 7" diameter at the top. The fitter opening at the bottom is 4-7/8" on the outside, 3-7/16" on the inside. It fits fine in the 4" diameter metal fixture shown.

The very bottom rim has typical but very slight roughness - glassmakers didn't usually bother finishing the bottoms of shades like this because the edges are never seen. No chips, cracks, flakes, or other damage.

Circa: 1950s - 1960s

Click for more detail...

9478

Venetian Art Glass Silver Underlay Table Lamp Gold White Enameling I have two of these gorgeous Mid Century Italian art glass table lamps. I believe they're Murano but no longer have their labels so I can't identify the manufacturer with certainty. The graceful long-necked bulbous urn shaped bodies are clear cased glass with an underlay of silver. Lacy gold flowers with white dot circle centers decorate the outside of the glass along with raised enamel white lacy white flowers inside flower-shaped cartouches outlined in raised gold enamel. The fancy metal bases and acanthus leaf socket connectors are cast brass.

The lamps are 35-1/2" high to the tops of the finials. They come with nubby silk covered tube-pleated shades with metallic lace braid trim. The shades rise above the harps for a total lamp height of 41-1/2 inches. The long white lamp cords have white Bakelite plugs are in good condition with no breaks or stiffness, and the lamps both work fine. The shades are in good shape with a little age staining here and there and some possible age yellowing to the fabric. They are however at least 50 years old and have picked up minor dust and household odors over the years. The shades are not mint but the glass lamps and decoration have no issues at all. The lamps are identical except for the bases - one is more of a bright gold brass color, the other has a darker bronze patina. Price is per lamp. Unfortunately I am not able to ship both lamps in the same box if you wish to purchase the pair due to size and weight.

9926

Seashells With Palm Trees Vintage TV Lamp This retro television lamp is backed by a large pink conch sea shell that reflects and enhances the glow from the night light size bulb hidden inside. Embedded into the transparent green epoxy resin base are more pretty shells surrounding two plastic palm trees. I've sold quite a few seashell lamps over the years but this one is especially attractive and pretty.

The lamp is 8 inches wide by about 7-3/4" high. It works fine and is in great condition with no chips or damage. The 4-1/2 foot cord has an on/off switch and the older style non-polarized plug. The light bulb is red which doesn't throw off much illumination but it can easily be changed to white, clear, or a different color. Unmarked but these lamps were popular seaside resort souvenirs in Florida and elsewhere from the late 1950s through 1960s.

9426

Antique Enameled Embossed Copper Twin Ceiling Light Fixture This antique ceiling or wall light fixture is made of embossed copper decorated with creamy enameled paint and embossed in high relief with a pink and green tinted Art Nouveau style floral design. The fixture accommodates two bulbs and has the original cast metal flower basket center post finial. The ceramic sockets are marked Spaulding, which is not necessarily the manufacturer of the metal fixture.

The oval base measures 12 by 6 inches. The sockets were rewired at some point. There is paint wear as shown, mostly to the embossed ring cups around the sockets where the copper base metal shows through. An ideal light fixture for a lady's bath, boudoir, or powder room.

3329

Arts and Crafts Copper and Cast Iron Double Electric Wall Sconce Light Fixture A double sconce electric light fixture from the Arts and Crafts era in copper with cast iron underframes. There's a cast iron medallion at the center (attached by a screw and removable), and a painted iron trefoil decoration at the front. The red, green and gold paint looks original.

The ruffled edge copper back panel is 5" diameter by 10" across the front and the sconces extend 6-1/2" from the wall. The lights work by means of pull chains beneath the copper cups. The old cloth covered wiring is original. The iron cross bar at the front swivels a bit, which is why some of my photos make the sconce look unbalanced - it is not. The fixture is being sold as found, in good cosmetic and structural condition but with the original layers of paint around the edges and in need of rewiring.

8353

1950s Milk Glass Roses and Wood Large Table Lamp This 1950s table lamp has a reticulated brass and wood base topped with a beaded milk glass platform and a jar-shaped milk glass body decorated with hand painted rose buds on three sides. The roses are framed in raised leaf designs, and in between the roses are wagon wheel type shapes molded into the glass. The lamp is 28-1/2" tall to the top of the harp (not including the finial), 22" tall to the top of the socket, the glass body is about 9" diameter at the shoulder.

The lamp has a standard harp and small brass finial at the top. It works fine and the brown cord with non-polarized are in good condition. The wood spacers and base have a few very minor marks, otherwise the lamp is in excellent vintage condition.

Click for more detail...

9476

4-Light 1920s Floor Lamp White with Gold Gilt and Slag Glass Base This classic 57 inch tall floor lamp dates the 1920s. It has a large socket at the center top, surrounded by three candelabra style lights with sockets sized for regular light bulbs. The cast iron base is sponged gold over white with a gold gilt painted circular inset with an embossed scrolly leaf pattern. A clambroth slag glass insert with streaks of green and gold is mounted between the base and ribbed metal column.

The white paint has some minor chipping to the center column. The switch knob controlling the three candle lights is missing, though the switch can still be turned without the little knob. The wiring will need to be replaced or repaired, as the original silk-wrapped cord is patched to the brown lamp cord with electrical tape at the base. The lamp has no rust and no signs of abuse or harsh treatment.

11264

Dutch Girl Boy 1940s Ceramic Kitchen Wall Lamp This type of 1940s kitchen wall lamp is usually found with a ceramic fruit or fruit basket base, but this one features a traditional Dutch boy and girl couple about to kiss below an arch of yellow tulips. It's cold painted in bright primary colors of red, yellow, and green. Extending from the glazed ceramic wall plaque is an arched lamp with white Bakelite socket and switch. There is no shade.

The light works fine as you can see. The Dutch kids plaque measures 7-1/2 inches high by 5 inches wide. The lamp extends just under 7 inches from the wall, overall height to the top of the socket is about 10-1/4 inches. There is some wear to the cold paint as shown and a little scuffing to the yellow enamel paint of the extension bar.

3744

2 Napco Gold Pixie Elf Night Lights Unused in Original Boxes These cute retro 1960s ceramic pixie elf nite lite lamps come in their original boxes with original tissue wrappings, never used except to test the lights. Just 4" tall, they have amber glass eyes and red glass medallions on their chests that glow when the light is turned on. The backs have a gold and red foil sticker on the back that read Napcoware Import Japan. There's an on/off switch mounted on the cord.

The lamps have never been used, but the cold paint used on the pixies' faces has started to flake from age and storage, exposing the glazed pottery underneath. You can see this clearly in the pictures. Both lamps for one price.

Click for more detail...

10208

Eames Era Brass Cone Shade Bowl TV or Table Lamp An unusual 1950s brushed brass television lamp with a vertical cone shade and center bowl to hold plants or artificial flowers - Mid Century housewives loved their plastic flowers and plants, didn't they? Though it can also be used as a table lamp, the vertical cone shade directs the light toward the ceiling, indicating it was meant as a TV lamp.

The lamp is 14-1/2 inches tall, the center bowl is about 11" diameter by nearly 3 inches deep. The attractive heavy base is decorated with embossed acanthus leaves, rope scrolls, and ribbing. There's an on/off switch at the front of the base. The 5-1/2 foot white cord is a little discolored from age but has no breaks or splits and the brown Bakelite plug is in good condition. The light works fine. I peeled back some of the wool felt lining at the bottom to reveal the molded maker's mark "Standard Nov. And Lamp Co.". There are some white paint spatters inside the bowl and a couple of faint, light scratches or rub marks to the back side of the cone shade. The sturdy lamp is stable and heavy for its size.

3736

Ceramic Small Table or Boudoir Lamp Handled Urn with Flowers A small, boudoir-sized version of the classic 1940s double handled urn style pottery lamp, decorated with a wildflowers bouquet decal and gold trim. It's just 11-3/4" to the top of the socket.

The lamp has some crazing but no chips, flakes, or cracks, and it works just fine. It still has its original wiring with white cord and old fashioned, non-polarized plug. There is just the base, it doesn't come with a shade. Feminine and pretty, it would look nice in a shabby chic bedroom, on your vanity, or on your writing table.

Click for more detail...

9427

Ships Wheel Wood and Glass Ceiling Light Fixture This Mid Century ceiling light fixture with glass shade has a nautical ship's wheel base with eight wooden pegs as the spokes radiating out from the flush-mount brown woodgrain painted metal frame. The white and clear glass shade is ribbed around the sides and has a wavy, faceted pattern to refract the light from the twin sockets inside. The inner panel below the sockets has a crackle-effect silver foiled lining. There's faded yellow label inside which appears to be removable, it's no longer readable.

The metal base is marked for 75 watt or lower bulbs. The fixture is 15-1/2" diameter across the wooden spokes. The glass shade is 10-1/2" diameter by 4 inches deep, overall height of the fixture with mounted shade is about 5-1/4 inches. The buyer may wish to replace the older cloth-covered wiring. The wooden spokes have some minor age wear to the finish - no damage, just some dryness to the wood (a little Murphy's oil soap will restore the appearance). The glass shade has no chips or damage.

10264

Eames Era Wall or Ceiling Lamp Fixture Double Cone Shades Great 1950s to early 1960s double light wall lamp or ceiling fixture with two swiveling cone or pod shape shades. The hardware and wall or ceiling plate are brass with an on/off switch at the lower center. The plastic shades are covered in a neutral colored straw-weave grass or raffia material that will go with any color scheme. The shades rotate or tilt in almost any direction, allowing you to spotlight your favorite Mid Century artwork or Eames era decor.

The shades are 8 inches at their longest by just under 6" diameter. The brass cap or plate is nearly 6 inches diameter. The shades extend to about 11" from the wall max (less depending on how you position them). The wiring looks good, the shades have no issues, and the brass is nice and shiny. There are a few small scuffs around the center screw hole of the wall plate, nothing serious.
