6938

Antique Carved Wood Black Forest Style Thermometer Barometer I'm not sure if this antique European (probably German) carved wood wall thermometer would be considered Black Forest or not, as the design is not the typical rococo style. The shape and decoration have definite Arts and Crafts elements. The wood appears to be oak. The very dark finish is original. Measurements are 19-3/8" long by 6-1/4" wide.

The white porcelain enamel thermometer is marked for centigrade and Reaumur scale, an obsolete European unit of temperature measure. It works but I don't know how accurately. Note the wonderful spiral coiled thermometer bottom. The aneroid open face barometer has German or Dutch wording, I don't know whether it works. The beveled glass cover is original and undamaged. The wooden case is in excellent condition with only one scratch on the back. It has not been refinished. The only thing that might be considered a condition issue is that the thermometer plate slides a bit, exposing less than 1/8 of an inch of what looks like old paper behind it with columns of numbers (see picture 3).

6937

Applique Feedsack Flower Block on Yellow 66 by 76 Quilt This wonderful vintage quilt measures 66" by 76" and has 30 flower blocks, the petals made from 1920s - 1930s cotton feedsack prints and hand appliqued onto solid yellow cotton fabric.

The blocks are entirely hand pieced and quilted. They appear to have been joined by machine, everything else except one seam attaching the backing to the quilt top is sewn by hand. The backing is solid green cotton, in a shade most similar to Depression green or Jadeite, if you're familiar with that term. The quilt batting is very thin cotton.

The condition is very good for a "working" quilt, meaning one that was used, not stashed away in a trunk for decades. There are two easily repairable L-shape tears on the back side, the largest 1/4" by 1/2" long and shown in closeup. One of the backing edge seams has some loose stitches and thin fraying along the seam line. One of the outside blocks has some surface soiling that looks fresh, I believe it happened while transporting to or from the Wyoming farm auction where I purchased it. There are a very few other small, random fading spots that can be seen on close examination but nothing on the back. There is some color variation to some of the yellow background squares.

Art Deco Copper Stacked Fan Bookends These vintage solid copper bookends have an Art Deco layered or stacked diamond or fan design, each layer with a progressively darker patina and texture to give depth. They're small size, 3-1/2" high by 3" wide. The bookends are not marked. One has a slight dip in the back, neither has any scratches or serious wear but the patina is somewhat uneven as shown.

6934

McKee Custard Glass Tea Canister Jar A Depression era glass tea canister by McKee. I sometimes have trouble distinguishing McKee's custard color from Seville Yellow but I'm going with custard. This one fluoresces bright green under black light but then both colors may do that.

The 6-1/4" jar is marked with the McK in circle logo. The black lettering on the front is in great condition. There are no chips, cracks, or damage other than typical thin flakes and roughness at the rim under the lid. The silver marks on the threads come from the aluminum cap and are very common. The original lid has some dings as shown.

It's 5-1/4" tall and is decorated with a copper cameo on the front. There's a faint pinpoint depression in the side, minor white freckling specks on the underside plus two smaller dots midway between the cameo and vase. Mild verdigris inside.

6933

Gemco Westinghouse Fired-On Red Glass Vintage Syrup Dispenser Back in the late 1960s to mid 1970s, customers purchasing a major Westinghouse appliance, usually a stove, were given a set of glass salt and pepper shakers as a premium. The shakers were always marked with the Westinghouse crowned W logo as well as a lowercase letter G for Gemco, the manufacturer.

This small glass syrup dispenser is marked with the same Westinghouse in-mold logo and is the first non-shaker Gemco Westinghouse premium I've seen. It's 4" tall overall by just under 2-1/4" diameter at the base. The paneled glass body has a fired-on bright red finish, the handled top is black plastic with a stainless steel slider cover. The paint is in excellent condition, there is no damage.

6931

Art Deco Chrome and Red Bakelite Creamer and Sugar This Art Deco chrome open creamer and sugar set by Farber & Shlevin has a squat shape with closely spaced, incised rings at the lower third and transparent red cherry juice Bakelite handles. Both pieces are about 2-5/8" high by 2-3/4" diameter. The undersides are marked with an incised running woman and animal logo and "Diana Chrome, Farber & Shlevin Inc., Brooklyn N.Y."

They're in excellent condition with bright, shiny chrome finish. Each piece has a really light scuff or storage mark on one side only, the creamer has some remnants of ancient tape or label glue on the underside bottom.

6932

Pierced English Silverplate Coffee Caddy Canister with Red Liner A silverplated coffee caddy or canister, probably meant for instant coffee as it has a spoon holder attached to one side. The caddy has a hammered finish with reticulated decoration and the pierced word Coffee at the center front. The red plastic liner shows through the cut-outs. It isn't marked but was made in Sheffield England.

The silverplate needs a good cleaning and polish. There is corrosion on the inside bottom. I don't know if it will polish out but it doesn't show. The red interior liner has some mild color fading, no chips or cracks. About 6" tall to the top of the lid finial, 3-5/8" diameter at the base.

6930

Kreamer 1930s Coffee and Tea Metal Canisters Red Bakelite Handles A pair of Art Deco kitchen canisters by Kreamer. They are steel with the original cream colored finish and cherry red Bakelite half-circle knobs that turn to open and close (both positions shown in photos). Vertical red Deco lettering spells out Tea and Coffee down the fronts.

The canisters were well used and are shabby. The paint and lettering are still in pretty good shape considering their age, but there are a couple of condition issues. The center fronts of each have remnants of old tape residue. It's very tedious to remove without damaging the paint but it can be done - I was able to get nearly half of it off. The tea canister has a small square of similar residue on the back left lid corner. The other problem is the condition of the interiors - one has quite a bit of speckled dark oxidation, the other has some rust. The canisters have no dents or dings and could be refinished or displayed as is.

6929

Old Graniteware Huge Cowboy Camp Coffee Cup Mug I've only seen one other graniteware cup as big as this aside from the other one I have listed. The dealer had it labeled a "cowboy camp cup". The size is massive compared to normal coffee mugs, holding a full 32 ounces (one quart) to the rim. It measures 5-3/4" diameter by 4" high - large enough to have been used as a small handled campsite mixing bowl. The heavy, thick porcelain enamel finish is a true granite-like mottled and speckled white on black.

The condition is better than I'd expect for its age. There is some chipping around the rim and a few small chips around the sides. The inside is in great shape. There's a small, shallow dent near the bottom which did not disturb the finish, most easily seen in picture 4, left side. I have another cup exactly like this except for color listed, purchased at the same Wyoming farm auction.

Extra Big Brown Graniteware Enamelware Cowboy Coffee Cup Mug I've only seen one other graniteware cup as big as this aside from the other one I have listed. It measures 5-3/4" diameter by 4" high - large enough to have been used as a small handled campsite mixing bowl. The cup is made of thick, heavy steel with a brown porcelain enamel finish.

The condition isn't bad at all for its age. There is lots of enamel wear around the rim and bottom edge, wear around the handle, and one chip to the exterior (first picture). The inside is in great shape. I have another cup exactly like this except for color listed, purchased at the same Wyoming farm auction.

Chippy Blue Graniteware Enamelware Pitcher This very well used blue enamelware pitcher is 8-1/2" tall by about 5-3/4" diameter at the bottom. The color is very dark blue, almost navy blue, with a white interior. Suitable for display but not use, it has rust inside, chips around the spout and rim, and three larger chips to the body under the spout. The bottom has remnnts of a white mark but not enough to determine the maker or origin though I'm certain it's European.

6926

Crystal and Brass Double Hanging Pendant Swag Lamp Light Fixture The glass globes themselves are 8" long, the lights including the cast brass caps are 13" long from the end of the chains. The two chains hanging from the ceiling cap are 51" long, for a total length of 64 inches, easily adjusted by adding or removing chain links. You can stagger the length of each pendant for a tiered effect in the same manner.

The globes have openings at the bottoms for decorative brass finials which are not present (though the brass washers and cork liners are there), but all of the big box home improvement stores have them in their lamp parts departments. The finials are also widely available online. The globes have typical but minor mold line roughness at the tops which is completely covered by the caps. There is some wear to the brass colored finish on the chains. There is a paper label inside the ceiling cap reading "L&S Lighting Fixture Co. Inc. Los Angeles, Calif.".

Large 12 Inch Replacement Lid For Revere Ware Copper Clad Skillet This is a replacement lid for a vintage Revere Ware 12" skillet. It's the largest and most difficult to find size in the Revere copper bottom stainless cookware line. Lots of storage and cleaning marks, nothing deep, and two very shallow, small depressions or pinpoint dings.

6925

1940s Louvered Metal Bed Headboard Reading Light Lamp Machine Age meets Eames Era in this retro bedroom reading lamp, made by Gregg Manufacturing Co. in the late 1940s to very early 1950s. It originally came with curved wire hooks to mount onto the headboard of your bed, but they are no longer present. You can easily make replacement hooks out of coat hanger wire, and the light can still be mounted to the wall or headboard by the keyhole openings in back. The elliptical shaped steel shade is painted Industrial brown and has gold tone bands at the centers of the stepped louvered sides. The gold bands are removable, handy if you wish to repaint the shade.

The light's on/off switch is mounted to the bottom of the brown phenolic bulb socket. The lamp has a nice long 6 foot brown cord which is in good condition with no damage. There are some scratches to the back wall near the keyhole openings, otherwise the finish is in good condition. It works fine as shown in the last picture. Measurements: 11" by 4-1/4" by 2-3/4" high.

6923

Revere Ware Copper Clad Stainless Steel 1.5 Quart Covered Saucepan I believe this vintage stainless steel copper bottom Revere Ware saucepan is a 1-1/2 quart size, though it actually holds a good 2 cups more than that to the rim, which is how most cookware capacity is determined. At 1-1/2 quarts full, this pan has more than an inch of stirring room. It measures 6-3/8" diameter by 3-3/8" deep.

The copper has been polished to a bright shine, the interior is clean and shiny, the exterior sides could use a club soda wipedown to remove those darker heat marks above the copper line. There are no dings or scratches but the outside walls do have a few storage rubs and scuff marks. The Bakelite lid knob and handle have a dry, faded appearance from age and dishwasher use but this doesn't affect strength or performance. This is USA made Revere circa 1950s, marked on the bottom with the older Process Patent logo.

Pair Whimsy Mercury Glass Googly Eyes Santa Christmas Ornaments These cute 1950s figural elfin 3 inch Santa Claus Christmas ornaments aren't marked but were made in Japan. Two silver mercury glass ornaments form each Santa's body and head. Santa has plastic wiggle googly eyes, painted white eyebrows, red nose, and a real cotton beard. He's wearing a red wool felt cap and cape trimmed with fluffy white chenille, painted blue buttons peek out from the lower opening of the cape. They can stand on their white mica-encrusted cardboard bases or hang on the tree from their gold cords. The ornaments are in very excellent vintage condition. The silvering of the glass is bright and shiny, the decorations in good shape with very little wear. About 3-1/2" to 4" high, depending on how the hats are measured. Price is for the set of two.

6 Pink Shiny Brite Fancy Indent and Glitter Glass Christmas Ornaments Six vintage Shiny Brite Christmas ornaments from the 1940s and 1950s, all in various shades of pink. The lone non-indent ornament is 2-1/4" round, decorated with pink and white bands over silver with white mica glitter zig zags and waves.

The other ornaments all have double indents. Note how each shape has a different pattern to the recessed centers - stepped flower petal, snowflake-flower, and spoked flower. The two large round indents are nearly 3" high, one in dark pink, one in light pink with gold tinted centers.

The two 3-1/4" cone-finial drop shapes are scarce - Shiny Brite only made this style for a short time. The last and oldest ornament is a 1940s teardrop with wide pink center band and light green thin stripes above and below. This ornament has a transparent effect, caused by normal age degradation of the inner silvering.

Lot of 9 Iridescent White Glass Christmas Ornaments These glass Christmas ornaments come from two different sets, but they go well together and look terrific on green trees. Five are almost iridescent, pearly off-white, one a 5-3/4" long icicle, four are matching 2-1/4" round balls. They have unmarked gold filigree metal caps. Minor, typical wear from age and handling.

The other four ornaments are 2-5/8" diameter. They're entirely coated in sparkly, clear iridescent glitter that sparkles brilliant, almost neon light green with pink undertones - very pretty. These ornaments have unmarked metal caps and are probably newer than the pearl white ones. One has a small wear spot to the glitter on one side, otherwise excellent condition.

German Stippled Pink Bells Glass Feather Tree Christmas Ornaments Two very pretty mercury glass bell shaped Christmas ornaments, made in Germany from 1910 to early 1920s. They're feather tree size, just 2-1/4" tall from the pontil clappers to the top of the metal caps. The pink bells are decorated with rows of in-mold stippled beading and center bands of painted white wavy garland decoration. The ornaments are in wonderful condition considering their age, good color with minimal wear. The white paint is surprisingly well preserved. The ornaments do have typical loss of the inner mercury silvering which causes an almost transparent appearance when held up to the light. It's rare to find a matching pair of these antique figural ornaments, especially in such good condition. They've obviously been together for around 90 years!
