Edwin Megargee Original Colored Print-The Indian Pony Edwin Megargee Original Vintage Lithograph Print depicting ~ THE INDIAN PONY.

Great coloring in this print! An Native American Indian in full headdress riding his beloved Indian Pony on the green plains.

" For the Indians of the western plains, the coming of the horse brought a new mode of life. After they learned to catch and break wild horses and to hunt on horseback, they could move at will where game was most plentiful. Some of them, notably the Comanches, followed the buffalo herds until they had laid in their winter's supply of hides and dry meat, a custom that brought them into the hunting grounds and resulted in continual warfare. "

We have obtained many works of art illustrations by the artist: EDWIN MEGARGEE. Artwork SIGNED on the lithograph print. These date 1946 from his collection titled: HORSES.

Lithograph print measuring 12-1/4 inches wide by 9-1/4 inches high. VERY SUITABLE FOR FRAMING.

Beautiful VIBRANT COLORING. NEAR-EXCELLENT CONDITION. Slight flaw runs along the very, very bottom edge, a very faint outline of a waterstain. Can trim away approx. 1/4 inch, or matte around, since you have lots of bordering surrounding the artwork image.

PLEASE BE SURE TO VIEW OUR OTHER MANY PRINTS BY THIS ARTIST. ALWAYS GLAD TO COMBINE ORDERS FOR ADDING SHIPPING SAVINGS!

Click for more detail...

0906295

Lovely Indian Maiden Deco Print-Holding Daisy Flower,Waterfalls Lovely Fair Indian Maiden, with her hands up in the air admiring a daisy flower. It's quite possible that she might be making a head ornament made out of flowers since there appears to be a string attached to the flower. She is under the cool shade of a large tree as she is sitting on a large log nestled by the water. Beautiful large trees in the background, as the large beautiful waterfalls over the mountain. Lots of detailing in this illustration.

The lithograph is TITLED: WABIGOON. In my reference book, RICK & CHARLOTTE MARTIN-VINTAGE ILLUSTRATION Discovering America's Calendar Art, it does not seem to be mentioned, so not certain IF this is an unusual or hard-to-find print. TINTOGRAVUE. In lower right corner is marked: 1926 OR 1936 (HARD TO READ), @THE BROWN & BIGELOW, U.S.A. MEASURING 6-1/2 INCHES WIDE BY 8-1/2 INCHES HIGH.

Print in NEAR-EXCELLENT Condition. Being that this was located tucked away in a scrapbook, the coloring is UNFADED. VIBRANT AND VIVID. A corner bend at lower left hand corner. A pin hole at upper middle edge and at bottom middle edge. Two pin dots to right of headband. Back of print still has the page backing paper from the scrapbook. Quite lovely, displayable and VERY COLLECTIBLE.

Click for more detail...

0603273

1940s Lithograph-Ellis Silas-Savage Indian Battle Great Cabin Art/Sportsman Nature/Western theme of the old west. This 1930-1940s lithograph print most likely was from a calendar. A color coordinated motif surrounds this great picture. In GREAT CONDITION, just has two pinholes at the top when it was hung. Was album pasted.

Is signed by the artist in lower right hand corner. ELLIS SILAS. Style is similar of the artists of that time period, Phillip Goodwin, Frank Tenney Johnson, Remington or Hy Hintermeister. Coloring is beautiful, vivid and vibrant as shown. On nice vintage paper stock.

This theme is not readily seen, as this shows violent tendencies with an Indian Chief and an Indian Warrior. Knife raised in the air, warrior having many wounds. STRIKING STATEMENT to your collection once framed and hung on your wall.

Measures 4-7/8 W x 5-7/8 H. Place this in the right antique wood frame and matting would certainly bring out this pictures beauty.

This wonderful ANTIQUE is worth collecting, we hope you think so too. Thanks for visiting DOGWOOD TRAIL ANTIQUES

1904 E.Irving Couse-Taos Indian Roasting Corn Print Great collectible in this original vintage print, SIGNED BY THE ARTIST: E.I.COUSE (EANGER IRVING COUSE) 1866-1936. TAOS INDIAN ROASTING CORN. From a Thistle Print, Copyright Detroit Photographic Company.

Taos Artists) - Instructor Picture Study Series
Light soil and edgewear to folders, prints near fine.
art works from a teaching series, being Taos Indian Roasting Corn by E. Irving Couse. The art is accompanied by a description of the sort. It is interesting to observe that the curve of the Indian’s back, as he crouches down, makes a line which draws our eye toward the fireplace and roasting corn in the open pit fireplace.

Print is in VERY FINE CONDITION. You can see on the left white margin of a light water stain and through top upper left corner. But so faint is hard to miss. Either way, these works from this artist are hard to obtain. Great Collectible!!

Couse was a slow worker, but he completed more than 1,500 paintings
." during his long career. His popularity was enhanced during the 1920s and early
1930s by a series of works appearing on calendars distributed by the Santa Fe Railway Com
One of the tributes of a Crouse painting is that the viewer feels that not only is he looking as a figure or scene, but that there is a past, present and future to that figure or scene. He was a meticulous artist, making extensive notes on costumes, tools, behavioor, ornaments, and landscapes, which he applied to his depictions of Indians weaving, hunting, shelling corn, courting, and performingpany.

Lovely White Feather Indian Maiden Princess Oval Print Lovely ORIGINAL VINTAGE LITHOGRAPH artwork picture of an INDIAN MAIDEN PRINCESS. I call her White Feather. She is dressed in a purple dyed skin dress, lovely long braided black hair, is creating artwork on the skinned and dried animal hide. A white feather tipped adorns the beaded headband. I believe this lithograph was probably artwork on a calendar. For you can see at the very top the horizontal lines that could be created by the glue line along the top and being taken off the calendar. Is not terribly distracting, she really is the focal point. Also a slight crease/white line in print by the top of her head. It is lovely, vivid attractive picture. ****So this print is priced lower accordingly.*****

***(((PLEASE NOTE THE FRAME IS NOT FOR SALE. JUST SHOWN AS AN EXAMPLE.***))))

The print measures an oval approx. 6-1/4 x 8-1/8 inches. LOVELY DISPLAYABLE ARTWORK.

09032310

Winold Reiss-Buffalo Body-Glacier National Park Lithograph Vintage Portrait Lithograph Print of *BUFFALO BODY* - GLACIER NATIONAL PARK. This American Indian is wearing his ceremonial buffalo horn head-dress.

Glacier National Park Print by Artist: WINOLD REISS. Marked on the bottom: FROM ORIGINAL PORTRAIT BY WINOLD REISS, NEW YORK. @GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY, ST. PAUL, U.S.A.

This 1932 print is in MINT CONDITION. The colors are outstanding, VERY VIBRANT AND VIVID, UNFADED LITHOGRAPH. This print is 77 years old, it is not a new reproduction.

The image is 7-3/8 wide x 9-3/4 inches high, the overall measurements with the ample border is: 8-1/2 wide x 10-7/8 inches high.

Winold Reiss, 1886-1953, was a German born, American painter. Reiss came to the west in 1919 to paint American Indians, bringing with him the techniques of line and color acquired in Europe. He specialized in painting the Blackfeet Indians of Northern Montana, of which this is an example.

WINOLD REISS (pronounced Vee-nold Rice), a German-born artist whose paintings of the Blackfeet Indians were the basis of so much of Great Northern Railway's advertising from the 1920's to the 1960's.
His colorful and accurate images of the Blackfeet tribes are a poignant reminder of America's history in the old west.
Mr. Reiss was the first painter who saw the Indian abstractly as subject for art, who recognized classic monumentality in the manner in which he folded his blanket about him and in the proud carriage of his head. His pictures have helped to restore and give
reality to the legend of the noble red man and have made him an epic figure among the lost and vanishing races of mankind. He has been able to achieve this quality of universality without sacrificing his realistic approach. Mr. Reiss believes that the epic of the American Indian should be preserved in murals for future generations on the walls of our public buildings and schools. Mr. Reiss died on August 29, 1953.
