Red Wing Stoneware Albany Slip Glaze Hot Water Foot Warmer Bottle
Hard to find piece! This Red Wing Stoneware Albany Slip Glaze Hot Water Bottle is one hundred original and complete. It was made by Red Wing Pottery from 1900 to 1920 and is also referred to a foot warmer. This style of bottle was made to use as hot water bag is now used or to warm hands or feet.
It has the original metal stopper and metal chain handle. It is brown in color and has a leaf style pattern around the top and bottom. It is 11 1/2 inches long, 18 inches around and about 5 inches across the bottom. The bottom is marked with a blue round backstamp, "Red Wing, Union, Stoneware Co, Red Wing, Minn". It is in excellent condition, given the age, no cracks, it has a flat chip across the handle where the chain handle goes in that clearly occurred many years ago, and does not affect use or display. The original metal stopper is intact and has the original seal, there is some slight discoloration around the outside metal base where the stopper screws into, not cracks or rust. It does have some normal production flaws exist such as glaze poppings and areas that the Albany Slip glaze did not completely cover, common in pieces of this age. Overall it is in beautiful condition and would be a complement to your Red Wing collection!
