ts8682

Vintage Weston Bowl Mill Wooden Bread or Mixing Bowl, Hand Turned This is an outstanding piece! I estimate the age to be from the early 1900s, I have had it for many years and it is one of the pieces I have really not wanted to part with, however, the time has come to thin out some of the neat items I have collected. This is a hand turned bowl, as such it is not perfectly round, it is 18 1/2" across on one side and 19 1/4" across on the other, 5 1/2" deep. It is marked on the bottom with the Weston Bowl mark, part of which has worn off from use/age.

This size can be used for many things, bread baking, mixing bowl, salad bowl and more. It is in wonderful condition with lots of patina and a primitive, rustic look from aging and use. No cracks, edges do show signs of use along with some marks on the outside of the bowl. I am not sure what kind of wood it, the Weston Bowl Company used oak, maple, cherry and walnut. I think it is either maple or oak, but that is only my opinion.

It would be a beautiful, treasured addition to use or in your collection. Please see our other listings for additional pieces of vintage and antique pottery and wood bowls.

Vintage Churchill Staffordshire England Blue Willow Salt Pepper Set Vintage Churchill Staffordshire England Blue Willow Salt and Pepper Shaker Set. This pattern was made in 1989 and features the long favorite Blue Willow pattern and tells the story of two lovers.

As the story goes, there was once a Mandarin who had a beautiful daughter, Koong-se. He employed a secretary, Chang who, while he was attending to his master's accounts, fell in love with Koong-se, much to the anger of the Mandarin, who regarded the secretary as unworthy of his daughter.

The secretary was banished and a fence constructed around the gardens of the Mandarin's estate so that Chang could not see his daughter and Koong-se could only walk in the gardens and to the water's edge. One day a shell fitted with sails containing a poem, and a bead which Koong-se had given to Chang, floated to the water's edge. Koong-se knew that her lover was not far away.

She was soon dismayed to learn that she had been betrothed to Ta-jin, a noble warrior Duke. She was full of despair when it was announced that her future husband, the noble Duke, was arriving, bearing a gift of jewels to celebrate his betrothal. However, after the banquet, borrowing the robes of a servant, Chang passed through the guests unseen and came to Koong-se's room. They embraced and vowed to run away together. The Mandarin, the Duke, the guests, and all the servants had drunk so much wine that the couple almost got away without detection, but Koong-se's father saw her at the last minute and gave chase across the bridge.

The couple escaped and stayed with the maid that Koong-se's father had dismissed for conspiring with the lovers. Koong-se had given the casket of jewels to Chang and the Mandarin, who was also a magistrate, swore that he would use the jewels as a pretext to execute Chang when he caught him. One night the Mandarin's spies reported that a man was hiding in a house by the river and the Mandarin's guards raided the house. But Chang had jumped into the ragging torrent and Koong-se thought that he had drowned.

Some days later the guards returned to search the house again. While Koong-se's maid talked to them, Chang came by boat to the window and took Koong-se away to safety. They settled on a distant island, and over the years Chang became famous for his writings. This was to prove his undoing. The Mandarin heard about him and sent guards to destroy him. Chang was put to the sword and Koong-se set fire to the house while she was still inside.

Thus they both perished and the gods, touched by their love, immortalized them as two doves, eternally flying together in the sky.

The salt and pepper in this pattern is rather hard to find. They are 3" tall and 1 3/4" across the base. Both are in excellent condition, no chips, come with their original stopper.

ts8665a

Vintage Weeping Gold Art Swetye Pottery Swan Planter Figurine Set Vintage Weeping Gold Swan Planter Figurine, Set of Two. This style of pottery was extremely popular from the 1940s to the 1960s. Weeping gold pottery has a gold dripping and spattered appearance and contain real gold, most pieces are marked as to what karat of gold, occasionally one will find that some pieces were not marked at all.

Weeping gold pieces were first produced in the 1940s and continued in production to the 1960s until the price of gold was prohibitive. The first company to produce the Weeping Gold style was Kingwood Ceramics of Est Palestine, Ohio. It was also made by McCoy Pottery, McCoy called their line Sunburst Gold. Several other companies such as Acme Craftwear, Dixon Art Pottery, Swetye, Bel-Terr, LeMieux, Gold Craft and Pioneer Pottery Company. In those days, it was an expensive collector’s item.

Weeping gold is two process glaze creation. First a textured glaze was applied and the pottery was chilled. Once it had chilled, the molten gold was poured over the piece, ran through the textures and solidified with drips, like tears. Hence, the name Weeping Gold.

These swans are 4 3/4" tall, 8" long and 3 1/4" across. Both are in excellent condition, no chips, one is marked Swetye, 22K (I think, mark is blurred) Gold, Salem, O. The one that is not marked has some crazing and a mark in the bottom, does not affect use or beauty of the piece and is mentioned for the sake of accuracy.

Vintage Floral Tapestry and Velvet Brass Metal Leg Footstool 1960-70 Vintage Floral Tapestry and Velvet Footstool with Brass Type Metal Legs. This piece was made in the 1960s to 1970s era. It is a lovely piece, with a antique or Victorian feel to it. A nice size for resting your feet, sitting on or as a seat for a small child. It is styled after the antique pieces made in the Victorian era that had the cast iron legs.

The fabric covering on this piece has a tapestry pattern, it has bands of alternating design, one is a floral pattern of dark red and light pink flowers with green leaves, a band of yellow/gold, a satin band of blue, and a thin band of solid beige. The sides are a blue velvet that matches the blue bands in the top fabric.

The legs are a brass colored heavy metal and back of the stool has the original paper covering. It is 16 1/4" long by 11 3/4" and 8" tall. It is in lovely condition, no tears, there is a faint spot on the fabric which is shown in the picture, have not attempted to clean. The paper on the base has some discoloration on one edge, like something was spilled on it, of course this is not visible unless the footstool is turned over.
