8136

OLD COBALT BLUE SWIRL RIDGED AKRO AGATE GEAR SHIFTER This lovely rich cobalt blue swirl akro agate or slag glass marble gear shift knob was purchased over 20 years ago in West Virginia. It measures a tad shy of 2" in diameter with an opening for a fitting of nearly 7/8" across. While the other ones are all rounded, this one is more cushion shaped and it has ridges around the center that make it special from all that I've seen. The shifter has some factory imperfections which are to be expected. I would rate it as in excellent condition.

I believe it was manufactured by the Houze Glass Company in Pennsylvania, which closed down permanently about 3 yrs ago. This is an authentic art deco era slag glass style shifter that was never used. Thousands of these were uncovered at the time and all were new-old stock. I saved a few of my favorites and for the first time ever, decided to offer them for sale online.

UNUSUAL VINTAGE SET 4 GLASS RED HOLDERS w GREEN BASES Ok, I admit it...I have no idea what these are and where they came from. If you know, please feel free to share the information with me.

Here's what I DO know...there are 4 matching sets, each set comprised of a swirly green glass ruffled base and a swirly tomato red glass cup or holder of some sort which fits into it. They are at least 30 or 40 years old, but I am uncertain of their exact age.

Each little cup and saucer (or whatever they're called) has a 5" diameter base, and is about 3" tall. The glass has an art glass quality to it and they are quite lovely.

The pieces, to me, look as if they are supposed to depict a fruit or vegetable like a tomato sitting on a leaf like object.

The set is in very good condition, with a couple little nicks on the bottom edge that may have actually beeb there since their original manufacture.

8991

ELEGANT ART DECO HAND ETCHED CREAMER AND SUGAR SET Lovely creamer and sugar set from a local estate of collectible and antique pottery glasware. Each piece measures about 6" tall. The sugar has a 4 1/4" diater rim; the creamer measures 4" at its widest point.

The glass in unmarked but has some nice lines, indicative of the art deco and depression era. The bases are squares that sit on a diagonal and they appear to be pressed with hand etched flowers sections that repeat on both pieces, each front and back.

In excellent condition, the pieces are free of damage or repair and ready to display or use. The only wear is the desired scratches on the bottom to show its age. If anyone knows of a pattern name, please let me know.

66278

ANTIQUE BLACK AMETHYST GLASS SWAN FIGURE (LID?) From a local estate, approx. 7" by 4" by 4" high, figural figurine (figure) of a swan, not sure if this was once a lid or not. Signed with a raised relief of the letter "M" inside of a curved letter or shape of some sort.

I welcome information on this.

It looks black but I believe it is a rich deep dark black amethyst glass material. Circa early to mid 1900s, does not appear to be a reproduction. I left dust for photos to show details. VERY good condition...NO chips, cracks, damage or repair.

Click for more detail...

9464681

SWEDISH MODERNIST KOSTA BODA CLEAR SIGNED CRYSTAL 11in VASE From an estate collection, 11" vase, about 3.5" diameter at the lip, lovely clear crystal, VERY heavy, glass is nearly 1/2" thick. SUPERB SWEDISH GLASS!

Hand signed etched at the base:
Kosta Boda 48628 B Ede...?

Unsure of the exact artist and I welcome any information you may care to share.

This is a superb piece in mint condition. Priced well below market value! This is a vintage piece and it appears the company no longer employs this designer nor offers this particular style.

From the current Kosta Boda website:

Over the centuries, the artists and craftsmen of Kosta Boda have not only embodied the distinctive folkways of Scandinavian design, but helped define those traditions. When you buy and give Kosta Boda, you're buying and giving history - a lineage of great design and craftsmanship that has endured for more than 260 years.

When the USA was established our company was nearly 50 years old. The original Kosta glassworks was born in 1742 as a partnership, the name an acronym from the partners' surnames: Anders KOskull and Georg Boglislaus STAël von Holstein. As Kosta grew and prospered, we helped grow an entire industry in Småland, Sweden's "Kingdom of Glass." In the 20th century, Kosta and neighboring glasshouses Åfors and Boda, were merged under a common owner. In 1976, we were renamed Kosta Boda.

What makes Kosta Boda so special is that we continually draw on our long history in developing exciting new ideas and methods in design and glass craftsmanship. Kosta Boda's designers and glassmakers are showcased in exhibitions and permanent private and public collections throughout the world.

Very pretty clear glass depression era two part flower frog. Little art deco styled handles and nice flared design in the glass. Apprx 7 1/4" at the widest points at the handles, about 3" tall, round flower holder insert fits nicely into the base.

Good condition, though upon close scrutiny, there is either a manufacturer's defect or a crack along the center of the frog insert. Honestly, I only just now noticed this and it's been displayed in my home for years. It doesn't span the entire width of the frog and doesn't affect its function or its overall look.

Priced to reflect this apology. If perfect, this would be at least double my price.

5875

ART DECO ETCHED CRYSTAL SNIFTER SAILBOAT MOTIF From my own collection, large crystal glass that I believe is a kind of brandy snifter or perhaps a martini mixer. Not really sure..I'm not a drinker so please let me know if you are savvy to this kind of bar ware.

Glass is about 6.5" tall, and it has its slim crystal stirrer. Hand etched into the side is a lovely sailboat and some seagulls flying in the distance.

Very nice piece, circa 1930s-40s, I'd estimate. Excellent condition.
