GUSTAVE KAITZ: American Art Deco Master 1913-1992


The singular art of Gustave Kaitz may be described as a highly stylized wellspring of illusion, imagery and symbolism. Gustave Kaitz died in December of 1992 and is considered the last American Art Deco artist of the twentieth century. He leaves behind an extraordinary collection of over 150 paintings and sketches spanning seven decades. Galeria Frozen Beauty is proud to be the exclusive representative of the Gustave Kaitz estate.

Always ahead of his time, capturing the soul through his art, Kaitz' work is one of awe and imagination, of philosophy and self-realization.

The artist is nationally recognized as a master in concept art. During the latter part of the Art deco movement his reputation was well established, his works decorating the homes, lobbies, theaters and movie settings of the period.

Opposed to the pictorial realisms of the renaissance, Kaitz, employing a six fold mixed media that permeates the subtle intensity by which his art flows, began to paint with unrestricted color and movement, his art taking on untried visions through his conceptual Deco works.

Gustave Kaitz died on December 30, 1992.
