T26464

Audels Carpenters and Builders Guide 4 Vol 1923 This is a good set of Audels with a complete set of 4 volumes printed and copyright in 1923. One of my favorite reference book sets for information on building and carpentry technics from the 1920's. The 1st volume is very good for information on tools of that days and how to care for them. This set has a number of condition issues, but is in good intact condition, no missing pages, mostly cover issues noted. Each book is 5" x 6.7" has a black leather like pressed cloth semi soft boards, gold gilt spine lettering and page edges. Each of the covers are clean, spines are tight and straight. Some wear on the gold gilt page edges and gilt on spines; volumes 2, has light water mark stains in margins mostly on several page, does not affect reading - no scribbling, a few minor riped pages that have been repaired, secured with acid free archival tape. End papers have age soiling on most volumes. Volumes 1 & 4 have creases in the covers, both have been repaired with acid free archival tape on the inside end paper. The best volumes are volumes 1 & 3, with minimal wear. The volumes 2 & 4 have more cover wear, a slight rip in the front cover of number 4 at the bottom corner where the edge meets and goes around the bottom of the spine. It is still attached, a slight rip noted. Previous owner signed inside front end papers of 2 volumes only. Good tight bindings. <br>
A nice set of books covering tools, steel square, cutting tools, saw sharpening, nails, screws, joinery, furnature, math, drawings, estimating, house and roof framing, layout, foundations, doors, windows, stair building, millwork, painting, etc. Lots of good information. This is about the lowest cost 1923 set we have ever listed over the years. Will still make for good reading and reference!

T24645

Utica Long Flat Nose Pliers No. 85 - 6 inch Duck Bill Offering one long flat nose pliers, stamped "UTICA 85" with the 3 diamond logo, near the pivot joint on one side. This model has a nose that extends 2.5" from the center of the pivot to the tip. The jaws are 3/8" wide, and are smooth both inside and out. The inside of the mouth of the jaw is nearly flat, but has a very minor arc parallel to the 3/8" width, so mild, it is hard to see. One jaw match to the other on the arc shape, or male and female contouring so they close tightly together all the way across. These are very good useable vintage pliers, a hard to find model by a well known quality tool maker! We note that there is very little wear, a few minor edge dings, no rust, very clean, and a very good pivot joint. They are 6" long. This is a rather hard to find model! The first one of these we have had for sale over the years!

T24641a

Challenge Cutlery Mitre Square Miter Patent 1904 This is a rarely seen 10" mitre square marked "Challenge Cutlery Corp. Bridgeport Conn. Patented 1904". The tool is clean and rust free, but has had rust pitting on it in years gone by, so some blacked staining, and minor pitting noted. We note some minor scratches, but otherwise all the working surfaces are in very good shape. The inch increment can still be seen on one side, the other side with no markings. The guide lips are on both side for both shown and reverse mitres can be set by pushing the square up to the work piece edge. The lip is 1/4" high. A old version of the miter squares seen new on the market today are made of aluminum in many cases, this one is all steel, with a nice polished finish. In good useable condition overall.
We find this one to be very similar to a later patented miter square "FOX's", that was patented in 1921. This one has an extra thick rail in the area connecting the 45 degree angle section to the graduated section, otherwise basically identical by comparison.

T26429

Antique Brad Awl w/Chuck x (2) This is a nice clean pair of brad awls for one cost, both with a spring type 4 jaw chuck, and chuck sleeve, so you can put different types of tips into it and tighten them down. Very often users simply make their own tip to insert into the chuck for specialize use. Each comes with a small pointed tip, with a .1" diameter shank. The chucks holds tight. Both are 4" long overall, without the tip in the chuck. The handle appears to be made of oak, with a leather wrapped end, in very nice shape overall. No rust, clean. The inside chuck shaft is well attached on both and goes well into the center of the oak handle. We note just one has a little bit of wood from the handle filed away just behind the chuck area. It appears if was modified so the sleeve could be tighten down on a smaller diameter tip than what is in there now (.10" diameter), considered minor, as it doesn't effect use as is. A very well made awls overall!

T26406

DUKW Tire Pressure Gauge WWII Amphibious Vehicle The GM manufactured DUKW or sometime called DUCK, was a WWII Amphibious Vehicle that featured the capability to inflate or deflate all tires from inside the cab. We are offering one used instrumention panel gauge from this historic vehicle. The gauge is not marked by any specific maker, but we do know General Motors made the DUKW for WWII militery, some were sold to other countries, but primarily used by the U.S.A.. The gauge is 3.75" diameter x 1.31" deep not including a mounting bracket that is included. The gauge graduations are between 0 and 50 (we assume PSI) but not marked as such. As you can see there is also reference on the gauge face to the reccomended pressure for various conditions including "SAND OR MUD, CORAL, HIWAY". The gauge is also marked "TIRE PRESSURE". There is a good glass lens over the face, and the border around the lens is painted Army green, with about 90% paint intact. The gauge has no damage, in fact may be unused. We did test it again another gauge and it works fine, and regesters correctly. A very hard to find WWII tire pressure gauge!

T26424

Stanley Yankee Push Drill Straight Shank Adapter No. 45 This is a good used Yankee push drill with a new straight shank, standard drill bit adapter and 6 drills to fit in the 3 jaw chuck, plus a bonus new Stanley ratchet screwdriver! Yes, this means that you can use any straight shank drill bit from 1/32" to 1/8" diameter straight shanks, with this Stanley No. 45 push drill! We supply a total of 6 drill different bits that not only fit into the keyless chuck on the push drill, but also fit into the handle storage area too! The supplied new spiral type drill sizes will be 3/64", 1/16", 5/64", 3/32", 7/64, & 1/8" diameters, included in the price of the drill. The push drill is marked "YANKEE NO. 45 NORTH BROS. MFG. CO. DIV. OF STANLEY TOOLS PHILA. PA. U.S.A.". This push drill is 9.2" long overall with no drill bit in the chuck, and the supplied bright finish, twist drill bits are 1-3/4 to 2" long overall, and the bits can be chucked up short if you wish, so that only the fluted part of the drill is showing. This adds strength to the drill bits when drilling, particularly with the smallest diameter bits, and can also be set to control depth of the drilled hole. There is a cross pin about 1/2" behind the chuck that keeps the drills from falling into the shaft section of the push drill. The chuck is a 3 jaw, keyless screw chuck, and holds the drill bits very tightly in place, but is easy to tighten and loosen. This push drill is in very good useable condition, works just fine, with a some scratches noted on the threaded end cap, not bad, about 80% nickel plating intact, (on the main shaft, the rest of the metal is polished aluminum on this model), looks good, the black plastic section of the handle, is still very solid since the inside of the handle has a metal core, the plastic is very strong, no cracks, some minor scratches noted. The main advantage to these drills with the new straight shank drill adapter will allow you to use standard drill set bits in the small sizes. Since the old style Yankee bits are no longer being manufactured, they are hard to find new, and their cost has been on the increase, at about $4-$7 each for each new Yankee bits, where standard straight shank bits are about $2 per bit, and you can buy them at most any hardware or tool store. We have tested these drills ourselves, and find that the spiral drill cut very well in wood, plastic, and soft materials like sheet metal, (or drywall). You can use them effectively on sheet metal if a center punch is provided in the metal to keep the drill bit from slipping out of place while starting the drill hole. The quality of these drill bits surpasses the old style Yankee bits, and we believe these bits will far out last any of the Yankee bits from the past, based on our tests of this new chuck holding system. As a bonus when you buy this push drill is a Stanley 68-010, brand new discontinued model, with and nice ergonomic rubberized handle, ratchet feature is forward lock and reverse, several interchangeable hex tips including Phillips, square drive, and slot type bits. The screwdriver comes with a wall mount holder, and original packaging. A very nice combination deal!
