Designated #539 in the American Lectures in Living Chemistry series, Clearance Tests in Clinical Medicine was written by Francois Reubi, MD, Professor of Medicine at the University of Bern Medical Polyclinic in Switzerland.

Introduction to Medical Mycology
George Lewis and Mary Hopper of Cornell University Medical School, and J. Walter Wilson and Orda Plunket, Los Angeles County Hospital, joined to write Introduction to Medical Mycology, published in this 1958 fourth edition by Year Book Publishers, Chicago.

The 453-page hardbound book covers the coming-of-age of this area of considerable practical interest, say the authors, since diseases caused by fungi or in which fungi may be suspected as etiologic, constitute a sizable percentage of the disorders affecting the skin, and to a lesser degree, other organs of the body. It is of interest, they say, to dermatologists, specialists in other fields, and general practitioners.

And, with 118 illustrations, including black/white and color photos, it's a fount of information. A bibliography of reference books is included, as is a complete index.

The book itself is quite difficult to find in today's marketplace, but this is in Very Good condition. It is ex lib, with the usual library markings, but neither the cover nor inside pages show any apparent defects. A great resource -- at a bargain price! (5432)

Topics discussed include the chemistry of gonadotrpopins, and the four better characterized gonadotropins, pituitary FSH; pituitary LH; HCG; and PMSG.

This is a beautiful copy of a very scarce title! Management of Hypertensive Diseases was written by Joseph Edwards, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis. It was published in 1960 by C.V. Mosby, St. Louis.

The 439-page hardbound book discusses the effects of hypertension and its control by radical measures of surgery, the more powerful hypotensive drugs and also by the application of relatively simple hygienic measures of diet regulation, control of obesity, proper proportions of rest and exercise, and the avoidance of excessive nervous strain and excessive use of tobacco and sedative drugs. Now a very scarce title, Edema was written by Leo Loeb, profesor of comparative pathology at Washington University. This is Volume III published in 1923 by Williams & Wilkins, Baltimore.

Human Testis, 1970 Experimental Medicine
Identified as Volume 10 in the Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology series, Human Testis features 43 papers from a conference held at Positano, Italy, April 23-25, 1970. The 645-page hardbound book was edited by Eugenia Rosemberg and C. Alvin Paulsen and published in 1971 by Plenum Press, New York.

International investigators covering various scientific disciplines discussed the subject from a morphologic, physiologic, biochemical, genetic and pathologic point of view. Both black/white photos and other illustrations highlight the text.

The chapter topics include Embryology of the male reproductive tract, Histology of the testis, Cytogenetics of spermatogenesis, Regulation of testicular function, Testicular steroidogenesis, Non-hormonal factors influencing sperm production and transport, and Gonadotropin therapy.
