Antique Victorian Hanging Light. Red Velvet Shade What a rare and unusual piece this is. The shade is exquisite with its red velvet covering and hand stitched gold trim. This is a wonderful old Victorian hanging light that would have hung in some grand entryway decades ago. The shade is over two feet tall and has a long brass pull chain attached to a fancy tasseled pull. I have shortened the chain so I could photograph this lovely piece and can make it any length you specify up to six feet. The wiring has all been restored and the lamp is in fine working condition ready to grace the grand entrance to your home sweet home.
Condition: very good - re-wired
Color: Red Velvet, Brass and Gold edging

bhors1amb

Antique Tin Horse Weathervane, stand & amythist Ball This is a real American classic. The small horse weathervane figure was formed from two pieces of shaped tin, which were hold lead soldered together and mounted to the back of a fancy old cast iron arrow. The horse and arrow are 22 inches tip to tail and the horse stand roughly 7 inches tall. He is wonderful condition and has a thick coat of old black paint. The iron arrow still shows its original coat of white paint, but the weather has also caused spots of rust to bleed through and pepper the surface. Directly below the horse and arrow sits a 4-inch by 4-inch clear glass lightning ball that has been sun colored a lovely shade of amethyst. This piece also has an antique roof mount and all together stands nearly 54 inches above the floor. A very nice weathervane and lightning ball that likely date to the thirties and yet still have plenty of show left to give.

cm18loon

Vintage Cast Weathervane Top - North Am. Loon For some collectors, the North American Loon is the water bird of choice when it comes to home decorating. Sleeker and much more streamline than the common duck, the Loon has a distinctive profile and that seems to have a universal appeal. This particular North American Loon figure happens to be a vintage painted weather vane top and is rarely found offered for sale. The arrow and Loon are a one piece casting made from pot metal, which still has the majority of its original paint. There is some flaking and roughness, but for a water bird of this type made quite a number of years back, this Loon is in remarkably good condition. The arrow measures 18 inches from tip to tail and can be displayed just as is for a simple wall mounting, or we offer an antique cast pot metal roof mount that we will adapt for use with this vane. We also offer a set of directional indicators in vintage solid brass. Both of these accessories are listed below and sold separately so you can choose exactly the pieces you want. If you love Loons, don't wait to long or this good-looking bird will be gone.

1872 Dated Sergent Brass Victorian Pull Doorbell This old mechanical bell was made by Sergeant and bears a patent date of 1878. The solid brass bell measures three and a half inches in diameter and features some of the most detailed and intricate carving I have ever seen. The bell uses a simple pull knob mechanism, which a visitor to your door would simply pull to ring the bell. The bell itself mounts inside your house and connects to the pull knob by way of a hole drilled through the door. This is a lovely solid brass and cast iron doorbell that has been completely repaired and fully restored to working condition. We've use mostly vintage hardware and misc. old parts to repair the mechanisms and to form the operating devise.
When you buy a bell from Picker's, we supply detailed installation instructions for your specific type of bell, so let me ask you this.... Why buy an antique Victorian doorbell that doesn't work when you can have one that does? Come see our selection today.

3p5trnbel

Antique Hand Crafted Mechanical Doorbell C1868 Here is another very old and very fancy brass Victorian mechanical doorbell that has been repaired and restored to full working condition. The brass bell measures three and a half inches across and has the legend, Patented August 11, 1868 cut into the face. The back plate also bears patent dates. We have reworked some of the old pieces and used other old pieces to make replacement parts to restore this marvelous old bell to full working order. This is a turn bell and it mounts on the inside of your door. The operating handle attaches to the bell by way of a hole cut through the door and is set on the outside where it can easily be used by any visitor to announce their arrival simply by turning the handle in either direction. This is a simple yet very effective design and the handle itself was put together using other old hardware pieces to fashion a suitable handle for working this bell.
We will supply complete installation instructions specific to any bell you purchase from Picker's, so why buy an antique bell that doesn't work when you can buy one that does from Picker's Treasures.

51872fbp

Fancy Solid Brass Victorian Doorbell. Pat. 1872 Here is an extraordinary find. This gorgeous Victorian mechanical doorbell has been repaired and restored to its original working condition. I'll tell you this; none of those electronic doorbells at the big box store can come close to duplicating the marvelous quality sound of this antique bell.
This bell mounts on the inside of your door and connects to a very simple 'Pull' mechanism that is attached to the outside of your door. When a visitor pulls the ceramic and brass trimmed handle, the bell rings and then quickly resets so it is to ring again. The pull knob is spring-loaded and was actually put together from old parts and pieces of other vintage bells in order to make this fine looking doorbell functional once again. The back of the bell frame has patent dates from the year 1872.
Full installation instructions accompany all our bells and if you have a problem, we'll be glad to help. Why buy a pretty old bell that doesn't work? Buy one that you can use and show off at the same time.

Click for more detail...
801coprangl

Vintage Copper Angel. Cherub & Horn Weather Vane Perhaps this angelic cherub is the Angel Gabriel, the way he might have looked the first time he raised his horn to play. There is no name to identify this lovely childlike angel and no marks to tell us who fashioned this beautiful figure from two sheets of solid copper. Whoever the maker, it was a craftsman who had learned his trade well. From the weight and thickness of the copper, along with the depth and color of the metal’s patina, I think it fair to say this winged cherub with a horn is much older than most would say if guessing the child’s age. I would say he is probably 50 years old, if not a bit more. I don’t imagine a vane like this a one would have been found back in the late 1800’s, but then again, I wasn’t around then to know. This little angel is really not little at all. He measures close to 30 inches from the tip of his horn to the end of his foot and comes close to being 3 inches wide at his thickest places. The height from his mounting bar to the top of his wings is roughly 17 inches, so he is a full size weathervane to be sure. I can find no breaks or weak spots in the tin solder that joins his two halves and he is solidly set on his mounting bar, so if you want, this fellow is ready to go back up on the roof and do his work…., or maybe its time to take him inside and let your friends meet this cute angel face to face. He would make a fine accent piece and a worthy display for any situation. I have included a set of brass directional arms and an antique stand that brings the top of his wings to a height of 62 inches above the floor. If you decide you want this fine looking cherub and need a stand for some different height or situation, we will work with you to get you exactly the right piece to do the job. If you do not need a stand or directionals, we can offer a small discount from the listed price and likely save you a good deal of money on shipping as well. The world can always use another angel…

Family of Owls. Original Signed Watercolor If anyone knows the name of the artist who signed this wonderful watercolor, please be so kind as to let me know. I have not given up trying to figure out his signature, because I would love to see more of his incredible work. This original watercolor is beautifully set within a museum quality frame that measures 18 by 22 inches. The work itself is 12 by 16 and is an extraordinarily well-done painting of what I call 'A Family of Owls'. At first glance these lovely creatures seem identical in every way, but as you look from face, to face, to face, the differences in the expressions and even in the apparent personalities of each individual member of our Owl family are revealed. I believe whoever buys this painting will soon find this family of Owls as fascinating as I do.
