flambeau2483

Flambeau Limoges Hand Painted Fruit Plate-Artist Signed This Hand Painted Porcelain Plate is signed by the artist Levy and marked with 2 green marks: 1-LDBC / Flambeau / Limoges / France / Hand Painted. the second mark reads: Limoges / France.
Flambeau was in operation from 1880s until World War I (1914), at first just as a decorator but later also making some porcelain, but apparently not selling whiteware. Very little is known about the company.
Decorated with peach and grapes with green leaves on a grey and green background that extends to the top of the plate it is in very good condition without chips but does have some wear to the gold-trimming, particularly at the scallop high point, light surface scratches above the fruit and a crackle crack in the back that occurs from age.
The crackle is in the plate itself and can not be felt through the overglaze nor can it be seen on the front all of which I have shown in my pictures and it measures 9 3/4 inches by 9 3/4 inches.
An addition to any Flambeau Limoges Plate Collection.
SH & Ins. will be quoted after orders placed. If you have questions please contact me and thank you for looking.

Click for more detail...

haviland474

Haviland Limoges Oval Floral Vegetable Bowl Sch. #71-7 This antique floral oval covered vegetable dish is marked: H & Co. / L / France in green (dating this piece between 1888-1896) / Haviland & Co. / Limoges / #9164. The lid is marked: Haviland & Co. / Limoges / #9164 in red.
Made on Haviland's blank #23 with a Schleiger #71-7.
David Haviland was an American businessman from New York dealing with porcelain. While seeking out new business interests, he arrived in Limoges, France and by 1842, he was able to send his first shipment of Limoges porcelain to the United States. He was also key in adopting a new process by which to decorate porcelain pieces developed in 1873.
In 1890, David Haviland's son, Théodore Haviland, built a very large and prominent factory in Limoges and introduced a variety of new processes for firing and decorating porcelain pieces. The Haviland company has since been overseen by grandson William Haviland, and great-grandson Theodore Haviland II.
Haviland & Co. is still operating as Haviland Company, through the facilities are now modernized and now sell silverware, crystal, and giftware in addition to porcelain.
Haviland porcelain is highly desirable Limoges porcelain. Many of the older pieces are still in existence and are desirable as an antique or collectible item. It is estimated that there are as many as 60,000 Haviland porcelain patterns, though it is difficult to determine as many of the patterns have never been formally named or catalogued, and factory records are incomplete. Attempts to catalogue the pieces have resulted in several systems, including the creation of Schleiger numbers, and informal naming by collectors.
This numbering system was developed by Arlene Schleiger beginning in the 1930s and was published in 6 volumes, and covered approximately 4000 examples of Haviland & Co. porcelain.
Beautifully done in delicate blue and pink flowers with green leaves and stems, on the lid, inside the bowl and around the outside of the bowl with ribbon finial and handles in gold trim.
In very good + condition, without chips, cracks or fleabites it measures 5 inches high, 10 inches long (handle to handle) and 7 1/2 inches wide.
An addition to any Haviland & Co. Porcelain Collection.
SH & Ins. will be quoted after orders placed. If you have questions contact me and thank you for looking.
