Glass > Glass - Depression Glass

Enjoy scrolling through EAPG (Early American Pattern/Pressed Glass), along with other vintage glass, pottery, silver, pewter, old coins, collector books, cylinder records, etc. New unused, precious and semi-precious gem jewelry, STERLING, gold-filled or plate, and older costume jewelry will be added as it is sorted.

See below (About us) for the big picture! I am strictly a collector, not an expert, and I don't buy large lots of material.
Glass (EAPG) is my focus, but I also inherited a lot of "stuff" from my parents, much of it collected in the 1950's-1960's (semi-antique), and much of their material dating back to the Victorian era. My father loved lots of "old" things, often recounting fond memories associated with them. It's taking a long time, but I will slowly add interesting items, along with photos and as much history as I know about them.

Only large items such as furniture, rugs, phonographs, etc., are not practical for this venue. However, if you are local to northwest CT, and can pick-up an item, feel free to email and inquire.

Thanks,
Ger

Depression: Newport platonite salt with lid This single salt with lid in white platonite was made by Hazel Atlas from 1936-40. Similar to MacBeth Evans’ Petalware it can be used as a "go-with" for that pattern since there is no salt in Petalware! (See Weatherman,pg 125). Salt is 4 ½’’ tall with lid; 3 ½" tal without lid. Condition is *Mint, with no damage. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 1 lbs. from 06068. #286

309

Depression: Colonial (radiating squares) pattern punch underplate Similar to a berry set shown in Klamkin’s Depression book (pg. 26), c 1926, this large 12 ½" clear plate is most likely an underplate for a punch set. There is a manufacturer ground base and the glass is of excellent quality & brilliance. I do not know the maker or exact year of production, although this was gotten from an estate collection that was boxed up for 60 years! I’m sure there are several makers, and this plate can serve for more than one style punch set. *Mint condition; no damage. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 6 lbs. from 06068. #309

436

Depression era: Czech perfume bottle with Sterling salt top Originally made in Czechoslovakia in 1920-30’s era, this clear & frosted glass bottle was most likely an atomizer! I could not find this particular design of frosted roses, alternating with clear panels, in a reference, but the shape & style are seen in books which show Czech vanity items. Although unmarked, I have seen larger items of the exact same pattern with the Czech acid mark under the base! I got this piece as shown, with a sterling silver salt shaker lid, stamped UK, lid marks indicating 1838-1890. The lid slips onto the top, although there is threading. Obviously a marriage, the match is quite functional until the atomizer status can be restored. I leave that to the buyer. Height of bottle alone is 2 7/8"; height with lid is 3 ¾". There is a manufacturer ground base & top; 1 chip at the base & a few small nicks. The lid is slightly depressed on one side, but it has a very elegant sterling design in its own right. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 1 lbs. from 06068. #436

Depression Cameo, Ballerina cup, topaz Mint Also known as Dancing girl, this lemon yellow cup with scroll handle was made by Hocking Glass, ca 1930-34. There is an in-the-making flaw at the rim. Elegant era pink footed, engraved cake plate I could not identify the maker, but the design, color and shape of this cake server is consistent with the Elegant period. There are numerous surface use scratches, but no chips or cracks; glass has a somewhat bell-tone ring of fine glass and is quite hefty in weight. Depression: Rock Crystal tall covered candy Although considered a Depression era pattern (c 1922-31), this design has been seen in earlier pieces. The earlier pieces show shear lines and other findings characteristic of a more primitive method of production. This particular 10 ½" tall covered candy dish has a shear line in the lid! Wonderfully clear glass with 2 subtle chips on the foot: one under, one on top (see photos). Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 4 lbs. from 06068. #312

Blk Americana: Lucky Joe Louis Bank clear w metal lid c 1938 Figural bank made to resemble heavyweight boxing champion Joe Louis who held the title from 1937 until he retired in 1949, this clear bank with metal lid is in *Near-mint condition. The glass is clear & bright, without damage, showing relief printing under the base: "Design patent no. 112688 1." The lid has some edge wear of the red & cream colored paint, with minor interior rust spots (see photos below). Lots of printing on the lid: "Lucky Joe Bank. Nash’s Prepared Mustard. Nash-Underwood, Inc. Chicago. Coin Slot," plus list of ingredients, etc. Obviously this was originally a mustard container! See photos. For fun, I’ve included a shot of the original drawings I found at the USPO (patent) site which dates origin to 1938. Height with lid is 4 3/8". Depression: Early Fenton Dolphin handled candle dish This unusual candle holder is in the shape of a boat, with the candle cup in the center. The main pattern is of alternating panels of relief wavy seaweed & frosted straight seaweed. There are 2 tiny dolphin handles on either end. Made by Fenton no. 1621, in 1928-36, there is a manufacturer ground base. A subtle crack in one side of one handle where the dolphin attaches is difficult to see. I tried to picture it, but only by turning the piece over & at different angles can one get the suggestion of a crack. I’m not even sure if this piece didn’t come from the factory that way! Measures 6 ½" long x 4 1/8" wide x 2 ¾" tall. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 2 lbs. from 06068. #357
