Glass > Glass - Vaseline Glass

Enjoy scrolling through EAPG (Early American Pattern/Pressed Glass), other vintage glass, pottery, silver, pewter, old coins, collector books, cylinder records, etc. New unused, precious and semi-precious gem jewelry, STERLING, gold-filled or plate, and older costume jewelry will be added as it is sorted.

I am strictly a collector, not an expert, and I don't buy large lots of material.
Glass (EAPG) is my focus, but I also inherited a lot of "stuff" from my parents, much of it collected in the 1950's-1960's (semi-antique), and much of their material dating back to the Victorian era. It's taking a long time, but I will slowly add interesting items, along with photos and as much history as I know about them.

Only large items such as furniture, rugs, phonographs, etc., are not practical for this venue. However, if you are local to northwest CT, and can pick-up an item, feel free to email and inquire.

If paying by check, please issue to:

PO Box 457
Salisbury, CT 06068

Thanks,
Ger

EAPG: 2 vaseline IVT Inverted Thumbprint goblets *Mint IVT, or Inverted Thumbprint, is a pattern which dates back to King & Son, c 1875. Since it was also made by several other manufacturers, IVT is not easy to pin down. However, I believe that this pair of goblets is quite early since one of the feet is every so slightly out of round, consistent with early production. Both goblets are in *Mint condition, with no damage. Both glow brightly under UV light. Measure 6 ¼" tall. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority, with Delivery Confirmation, 3 lbs. from 06068. #378

Early: 8 Vaseline furniture casters This is a set of 8 vaseline, canary furniture casters. I remember when grandma had a clear set of 4 of these under each foot of her sofa. I don’t know the age or maker, and never saw vaseline coaster/casters when I was young. But these date at least to the late 1940’s & possibly earlier. Measuring 2 ½" across & ¾" thick, all show some age wear underneath, but not damage, cracks, chips, etc. Glow beautifully under UV light. Simple pattern in good condition. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 3 lbs. from 06068. #295

EAPG: Green Vaseline Chippendale 3footed cream pitcher This is a small 3-footed creamer in the pattern, Chippendale. Made by several companies including Ohio Flint, Jefferson Glass, Central Glass, etc. c 1907- 30’s. This particular piece is believed to be on the older side since there is at least one pot stone, usually found in earlier glass. Condition is near mint, with only occasional minor roughness along mold lines…more to feel than to see. Wear under feet is consistent with age. Glows great under UV…almost glows even without UV. Height 4 ¼". NB: this is not the pattern Quadruped which has 4 feet. #123

Victorian era: Very unusual vaseline Parrot figural tray I could find no reference to this very unusual vaseline figural Parrot tray or plate. I can tell you that it is probably quite old since there is a shearline & fine stress lines, consistent with EAPG era production! Glows brightly under UV; a beautiful pale yellow which almost glows even without UV in its thicker parts. Measures 8 ¾" long x 5 ½" wide x 1 ½" tall. There are a lot of chips under the base (marie) & a few on the edges. However, this appears to be a relatively early piece, well-made with nice detail, & possibly unique. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 3 lbs. from 06068. #377

6 Pairpoint Cup Plates: vaseline, purple, clear Six adorable animal cup plates from the well-known Pairpoint company. The Pairpoint Company was opened in 1837, and bills itself as "America’s Oldest Glassworks." Cup plates were one of the first items to be "pressed, as in EAPG (Early American Pressed Glass). They were used as a kind of "coaster" for a teacup, after the tea was poured from the cup into a "saucer" to cool. According to their site, all Pairpoint cup plates were made in limited quantities. I believe that 5 of the plates are part of the Thornton Burgess critters series. These tiny plates with wonderful detail measure 3 ½" or slightly less across. In purple: Peter Rabbit (with whiskers) and Jimmy Skunk (c 1978, #43). In yellow vaseline: Spotty the Turtle, and Green Briar (a swan). In clear: Danny Meadow Mouse (c 1983, #204), and Paddy the Beaver (c 1977, #36). No damage. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 3 lbs. from 06068. #474

Cambridge: green vaseline temple jar w lid *Mint Wonderful Cambridge made Majestic etched temple, cookie, or pretzel jar, c 1930-34. This optic pattern jar has a vaseline green color which glows brightly under black light. I’m not sure what the official name of this color is, since there are a number of Cambridge greens. I was told by someone more familiar with Cambridge ware, that this was part of a console set which consisted of the jar & 2 dolphin candlesticks, console #510. I could not verify that information in my resources. My 1930-34 Cambridge catalog reprint shows the Majestic etch on pg.58, but only in crystal & without this shape. I found an optic temple jar in Colors in Cambridge, pg. 49. So, perhaps this is an unusual item. I leave it to Cambridge or vaseline collectors to decide, and welcome any additional information. Measures 6 ¾" tall x 5 ½" wide. No damage. *Mint condition, looking like it was never used! Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority, with free Delivery Confirmation, 4 lbs. from 06068. #325
