T1879

Teco Pottery Matte Green Cabinet Vase Great small Teco pottery vase. Made around 1910, the glaze on this lovely piece typifies the "Teco green" - a micro crystalline smooth green glaze. The vase stands 3 3/4" high and about 3 1/4" at its widest. The vase is a classic oriental style. There are no chips or cracks. There are two very small glaze impurities – see the photos.

Teco was actually the product line of The American Terra Cotta Tile and Ceramic Company. The company was founded in 1881 just outside of Chicago, Illinois. More than 120 years later, their pottery continues to exemplify the spirit and excellence of the Arts & Crafts Movement in the United States. (#T-1879)

T1293

Southern Folk Pottery Ring Jug This is a huge hand thrown pottery ring vase, measuring 9 1/2" in diameter (across the center) and 11" from top to bottom. The glaze is marvelous - starting with a deep rich high glaze brown and "spots" of blues and cream throughout. There is a cipher inscribed on the top. I have not identified the maker. It's a capital B with an unknown initial in the top and a "T" in the bottom - left side is 76 - which I am assuming means this was made in 1976. Two tiny rim flakes around the neck edge. These were also called harvest jugs". (#T-1293)

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item T1466: American Encaustic AETCO Advertising Pottery Inkwell

Click for more detail...

T1466

American Encaustic AETCO Advertising Pottery Inkwell This outstanding ceramic inkwell was made by the American Encaustic Tiling Company, of Zanesville, Ohio, as an advertising piece, for their company. The inkwell has an area for two pens to rest (near the front), and two wells for ink, with the original pottery lids. The AETCO logo, within a circle, sits between the two wells. The logo is faint because the glaze was so heavily pooled. done in varying shades of blue, with tints of gold showing up in places, the glaze is truly wonderful. This measures just shy of 6" across, 5" from back to front, and sits about 1 1/2" high. Dating the pottery made by AET is tricky; my best guess is that this was made around 1930 - 1940. The well, and the two lids, are in excellent condition. (#T-1466)
