1904

Antique Child's Cup China Leuchtenburg Germany Boy Girl Sheep Goose Very pretty antique child's cup with cute graphics of a boy and girl with two animals, a sheep and goose. Marked on underside "Leuchtenburg Germany" with a graphic of a castle turret. Made of china or porcelain (this piece is translucent), round, measuring about 3 5/8 inches greatest width (including outer handle), about 2 3/4 inches top diameter, and about 1 3/4 inches underside base diameter. This child's cup or mug sits about 2 1/2 inches in height. From the style and type, we believe this to be an antique piece (minimally a vintage child's cup), likely dating to the early 1900's. This was found out of a home.

The multi-color graphics encircle about half the cup with the remainder left blank. The order on the cup shows the white sheep first, followed by the boy dressed in what may be a shepherd's type outfit as he is carrying a curved shepherd's staff and wearing a broad-rimmed hat, followed by a white goose, and ending with a girl in a bonnet and skirt carrying what looks like a plate or dish of bread or simple cake. The cup has a white base coloring with pink highlighting near the rim and a bit of pink on the handle.

Porcelain child's cup was made with a slight fluting to the upper edge (it is not a smooth round circular top although the form is definitely circular) and raised in-mold design on the outside near the top edge in a repetitive arch form with raised dots. As made, this raised design was not evenly done around the cup with a large smooth section missing this design along the top in the area about midway from the sheep to midway of the boy. This is not wear on the cup but a manufacturing flaw (there is no wear in the paint pink coloring here). Perhaps the porcelain wasn't fully applied in the mold or there was an error in the mold. The cup itself has the same porcelain weight/width here as in the rest of the cup, it is just missing this in-mold raised design here. A similar arching and dot pattern is molded in the porcelain around the base of the cup. This lower raised design appears all around the cup but is noticeably less raised/flatter along the base under the handle. There is also a molded raised dot pattern on the upwardly curved outer handle.

We've provided 8 images to show the graphics and cup from multiple angles, as well as the mark on the underside. Please note that the camera lighting creates white "hot spots" on the high gloss porcelain.

While this is a nifty piece with a great look, there is a small chip along the outer top rim, roughly circular, measuring about 3/16 inch in width. The chip has a pink center surrounded by the white porcelain. It is noticeable in several of the images so please use the zoom feature to examine closely. Beyond this, the cup shows other minor wear expected for its age, with some minor flaking/chipping on the underside base on which the cup sits (not bad but there), a touch of wear to the graphics/paint (but not bad at all, some tiny white dots, rubbed spots, etc.), some dots/pin dots/dark dots, rubbed spots, lines in the porcelain (we believe these may be as made, there are no hairlines and no crazing), etc. Nothing unexpected and supportive of the age of this piece. The inside of the cup is very clean so we don't know if this piece was ever used.

Click for more detail...

2236

1940s WW2 2 Decks Playing Cards USA Military Navy WACS Army Music Nifty find out of a home. A pair of decks of original vintage playing cards (both decks came out of the same home) which look to date to the World War 2 (WW2, WW II) time frame. Design shows members of 3 branches of the U.S. Armed Forces: Navy, WACS and Army. They may represent military entertainers and are set against the backdrop of a drum with drum sticks to one side. The two decks are matching or identical except that the coloring for the drum and drum sticks reverses, with one having a largely red drum with blue trim and blue drum sticks, while the other has a largely blue drum with red trim and red sticks.

In front of the drum is what may be a singing male sailor for the US Navy, a female dressed in a blue uniform with a hat who we think is meant to represent the WACS (Women's Army Corps), and a male United States Army soldier playing a harmonica. There is no specific Air Force individual shown, but the Air Force was not designated as its own military branch until 1947 per some internet research. We believe this also helps date these collectible playing card decks to be from the 1940's prior to 1947.

Each deck has 52 cards, complete in having all four suits in the right denominations, but neither deck has any Jokers. We do not know if these originally came with Jokers or not, or if the prior owner misplaced them, but you need to know they are not here. On the Ace of Spades in each deck it shows Western as the manufacturer, stating "A Western Product" in the center of the large Ace symbol, with below this "Made in U.S.A. (7082A-30A)", which we believe to be the item or manufacturing product number designation. From some internet research, the Western Playing Card Company was formed in 1927 within the Western Printing & Lithographing Company later called Western Publishing Company, which also owned the Whitman Playing Card Company, and was based in Racine, Wisconsin.

The cards measure 3 1/2 inches tall x 2 1/4 inches wide. We are not experts in playing cards, but they feel to be made of a printed or coated paper stock, with a smooth surface and gold colored edging on all sides. They will be shipped in a small box for safety.

There are 8 images showing both packs of vintage cards, in group and single images, including the manufacturer markings on the two Aces of Spades. Please note that the camera light often blanded out some detail and at other times wouldn't light fully on the face sides due to the high amount of "white space", so we used varied lighting conditions. Looking across all the images and using the zoom feature should provide a good idea.

The camera light causes white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth card surfaces which you can see are in differing spots across the images. However, please note that the backside card designs as made on each card in each deck have a largely vertical whiter area towards the right side of the card. We believe the designer did this intentionally for interest as a light reflection or sheen on the drum. This appears in the same spot on every card in each deck in a similar fashion, so we don't believe this is some sort of fading or spill on the cards, but an intended design element (this was also visible on some single cards in this same design which we found on the internet, to support our thoughts here).

While a terrific find, these vintage cards are old and were used, showing appropriate age, use and loose storage wear.....they are not mint or new looking, but nothing unexpected nor overly bad. We did not see any cards bent, torn, folded, or having similar flaws, but the white face sides have an old, used look. They are not "bright white" but an aged white in color, with some light staining, wear, etc. as expected (amount varying by card). The backsides are bright and colorful, showing the intended designs, but also have expected light use/handling wear, etc. No major visible staining on the backsides, just a slightly worn look, some occasional light scuffing, etc. There is slight edge chipping/edge wear seen on the face sides, a worn/aged edging look when a deck is viewed from the edges themselves (with gold wear), and other expected use wear.

A neat addition to any collection of vintage playing cards or a military collection in general. While we are selling these as two full decks, together with 104 cards as received (with no Jokers as mentioned prior), there are certainly plenty of cards here for those who wish to sell or swap them in pairs or as single cards.

Click for more detail...

2200

1999 Star Wars Episode 1 Jar Jar Binks 3D Adventure Game Sealed This is an unopened, never played with, sealed, collectible Star Wars board game found in a home. It is the 1999 Star Wars Episode I Jar Jar Binks 3-D Adventure Game made by Hasbro, for ages 5 and up. Since this is in new or never opened condition, we believe it to be complete with all pieces (but, of course, we can't open this to check that).

Measures 21 inches long x 10 1/2 inches wide and sits 2 inches in depth. Appears to be a cardboard box fully encased in shrink wrap. This game weighs 22.5 ounces or slightly under 1 1/2 pounds unpacked.

We've provided 7 images to show from varied angles. Please note that the camera light creates white "hot spot" reflections on the shrink wrap. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Excellent condition. On each end there are a few small spots where the shrink wrap has openings in it or is separated slightly, but no problems here. Please note in the third image the dashes/unevenness across the horizontal middle of the back side of the box is due to how the shrink wrap was sealed in this area, the shrink wrap here is not smooth and flat like it is on the front side, but has a sealed horizontal band here with curves, circles, and tiny holes in it. The box underneath appears to be fine. There are little air holes in the shrink wrap on the front side across the middle section, again as made. On the front side, it appears that the box cover under the shrink wrap is concave or has an indented curve along the bottom front panel, rather than being straight and flat. Again, this would be how this was manufactured since the shrink wrap is all here.

A great addition to your Star Wars collection or a neat gift for a Star Wars fan in general, to keep or have fun playing.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 1265: Collectible Old France Lead Toy Train Figure Man Walking Carrying

Click for more detail...

1265

Collectible Old France Lead Toy Train Figure Man Walking Carrying Collectible antique toy soldier type of toy of a male walking carrying a coat over one arm. His other hand is slightly curved upwards in a manner that makes us think that he might originally have been meant to be carrying something in this hand, too, such as a briefcase or a suitcase. He might have originally come with something to carry but when we got him from an older home they only had the figure and not anything he would have carried. On the underside are multiple raised letters some of which are clearer or more there than others. You can clearly see "France" in large letters along one end with one or two other lighter strikings of the word "France" nearby, so this figure was made in France. There are also the letters "DE" and part of a "P" which we believe are part of the french word "depose" which means registered (as in a copyrighted or registered design), and the letters "CS" or "GS" (we're not sure which...).

We don't know if he was originally sold as a figure to be used with a train set or a village display (such as a Christmas village or Christmas scene display) or as part of some other old toy set or scene. He is definitely an old, antique or vintage piece, although we don't know his exact age (we are not toy dealers and just describe what we see). He is definitely made of a cast metal which we believe could be lead from similar pieces we've handled and seen. As such, we will only sell this piece to adult collectors, it should be handled with care and it should not be given to children to play with due to concerns with lead exposure.

The man stands about 2 1/4 inches tall, 1 inch wide and 3/4 inches in depth at the base. There is a tiny hole on the top of his head, which we believe was made in manufacture, from separating him from the mold in which he was made. We have provided 7 images to try and show from all sides and details for condition purposes, with the figure also shown with a quarter for size comparison. Please note that the white "hot spots" are reflections from the camera lighting. This lighting makes his coloring seem a little bit lighter & brighter than it is in person. When you first put him down on a table he "wobbles" slightly before settling into place because the relatively square base on which he stands/walks is not flat and curves slightly. You can also see in the images that he leans to one side a little bit or is slightly slanted, as someone could be when walking over uneven ground. We don't know if this is how he was made or whether his base and he were slightly bent over time.

A very nice piece but he does show his age and wear, and is not mint. There are no chips or breaks that we see. There is paint wear, paint chipping/flaking but somewhat less than what we often see. There is paint wear on his face, hat, and body/clothing with the gray base metal showing through in spots. The bright camera lighting may "bland out" some of the paint wear making some of it hard to see, but a "rough" guess would be that 80%+ of his paint is still there. The paint looks original to us, he does not appear to have been repainted. There is also wear and indented areas to the underside base on which the piece stands. We are selling this as is/as found. None of this is unexpected for an antique piece like this and supports its age.

A great addition for a collectors group of small vintage toy figures. Could be incorporated into an older train set or diorama or other display dealing with American life in general.

Please note that we have many other lead toys listed separately for sale. If you wish to purchase more than one, please e-mail us before placing the order since the shipping information has been inputted for a purchase of just one and will not calculate the savings you would get when purchasing more than one shipped together in the same package (we will need to handle this for you).

Click for more detail...

2258

2 Vintage Matchbox Hot Wheels Storage Case Divided Trays Blue Plastic Neat find out of a home, matching pair of vintage blue plastic storage trays for use with Matchbox, Hot Wheels and other collectible toy cars and possibly some smaller trucks (depending on size, some trucks might be too long in length or height for these). Each is divided into 12 compartments so you could store 24 cars with this pair of trays.

We believe these were originally sold as part of a carrying case for these cars that may have held 4 of these plastic storage trays. We do not have the original carrying case, but if you do and are missing a few of the trays, perhaps these will fit. Our guess is that these date to the 1960's or 1970's.

Each measures about 9 1/2 inches long, 6 1/4 inches wide and sits about 1 3/8 inches in height. As shown in the images, they have an open design with a diamond pattern for the underside and rectangles around the outer edges with notched solid plastic pieces dividing the spaces/cars. The trays are light in weight, together they weigh about 5 ounces unpacked. These will be shipped together in one box for safety.

Very nice, very usable condition with no breaks, cracks, chips or pieces missing that we see. However, they do show minor age and/or wear as you can see in the images, mainly via outer edges not being exactly straight but having curves or waves to them, with corners being curved or flared outwards in some cases (this may be how these were made, we don't know, but we are guessing that this is due at least in part to use and storage over time). While we did a light cleaning of these just to get surface dust, they could use some further cleaning with dish soap as there is still some light spotting and/or dirt on them in some places, particularly in the corners of sections, but it's not bad and we believe this could be cleaned off.

It was difficult to photograph the true nice, rich turquoise blue color of these, as camera lighting often distorts that color (and blands out some of the detail). So we shot images both with and without the camera light. The images shot with the light appear lighter in color than you will see in person, while the images without the camera light show up darker than you will see, so the true color is in between these two. If you look across all the images, you should get a good idea of these pieces.

Great way to store and display a car collection.

Click for more detail...

1270

Walt Disney Seven Dwarfs Doc Squeeze Toy Neat collectible Disneyana toy, a plastic squeeze toy of Doc, one of the seven dwarfs from the movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. At the bottom back of his coat or jacket in impressed letters over two lines is the copyright "C" in a circle followed by "Walt Disney Productions, Made in Hong Kong." This is not a new toy. It came out of an older home, but we don't know his exact age (we are not toy dealers and just describe what we see). It is definitely made of plastic with painted areas and is a squeeze toy, having a hole on the underside of one shoe or foot and it makes a soft, high squeek noise when you press his belly and back together at the same time. Because this is an older or vintage piece and we don't know what type of plastic he is made of or what type of paint was used, we will only sell this to an adult collector, and it should be handled with care and not given to children to play with due to concerns with some types of plastics and paints.

Doc stands about 5 1/2 inches tall, about 2 3/4 inches wide and about 2 1/4 inches in depth. We have provided 8 images to try and show from all sides and details for condition purposes. Please note that the white "hot spots" are reflections from the camera lighting, which changes the coloring a little bit but not too bad. We did our best to shoot the manufacturer marking but it was difficult to shoot well. It definitely says what we've quoted above. The toy appears to be made in two pieces, one for his body and one for his head, which are tightly fitted together. We did a light surface cleaning to remove some dirt, but are selling him as is/as found.

This Doc collectible has a great antique or vintage look, but does have some flaws showing wear and age, and is definitely not mint. As you can see in the images, there is a good bit of blue paint loss on the glasses on Doc's face (note that the glasses are shown as just two blue circular pieces sitting on either side of his nose without any framing or bar parts to the glasses). While overwhelmingly most of his paint is still there, there are also touches of paint wear to his eyebrows, shoes and hat, and white paint flaking/chipping on his beard/hair but nothing really bad. The paint looks original to us, he does not appear to have been repainted. He does still have dirt spots, dots, and wear areas (such as on his hand and face) which may not be removable. There are black/dark dot spots in a number of places, scuffed/rubbed areas, some scratches and other expected general wear as one would see with a toy which was likely played with. But overall he is in nice shape.

A nice addition to any collection of Disney collectibles or Disneyanna, particularly one relating to this wonderful historically significant film for the company.

1994 Breyer Stablemates #5185 Morgan Mare Horse Unopened Package New This is a vintage, never opened, never played with new collectible toy horse in its original store packaging, which came out of a home. It is one of the Breyer Stablemates collection, #5185, the Morgan Mare, with a 1994 copyright date on the back of the package..

The cardboard & plastic rectangular package measures 6 inches high x 5 1/4 inches wide x 1 1/4 inches in depth. The horse within the clear plastic window portion appears to measure about 3 inches long x 3 inches high, and is a medium brown color (this may be referred to as chestnut in color, we are not sure, but have seen that mentioned elsewhere).

On the backside of the package it states that this Breyer Stablemates horse is part of a 12 horse collection issued by this company. The Breyer Animal Creations is identified to be a division of Reeves International, Inc. based in Wayne, NJ. This toy horse was Made in China. The UPC Code is shown as 019756059002, with another manufacturer code below this of 7000-5900.

We've provided 7 images to show from varied angles. Please note that the camera lighting causes white "hot spot" reflections on the plastic window portion. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely. The horse in its store packaging is lightweight, weighing a bit over one ounce.

Through the plastic window, the horse appears to be in excellent shape, with no chips, cracks, pieces missing that we can see. The cardboard packaging itself, however, does show much storage and age wear, via bending, waved/wavy cardboard, and curling, bending & edge/corner chipping along the outer edges, as you can see in the images. The plastic window itself has general wear/rubbed/storage wear, as well as a dent/inward crease in the bottom left corner. This is definitely never opened nor played with, but the outer store packaging does not look "mint".

2239

Vtg MCM Whist Playing Card Game Philadelphia Tournament Glass Dish Fun find out of a home. This is a vintage glass dish with decor showing it is a tournament award or trophy award for a Whist tournament held by the Philadelphia Whist Association in Penna.. The former owner said the winner was a family member, who was a Sectional Winner (generic winner dish with no personalization or name added). From the style and age inferred by the family, this is judged to be a mid century piece, likely from the 1960s. The Association later changed its name to the Philadelphia Contract Bridge League, then Philadelphia Contract Bridge Association (in Pennsylvania).

Vintage glass dish measures about 6 3/4 x 5 inches, with a depth of about 1 1/4 inches. Rectangular glass dish or plate is made of the dark see through glass with a smoke type color often seen with 1960s pieces. Dish has upwardly turned sides and corners, with a curve to all sides. Decorated with gold outlining, with red highlights, center states "Philadelphia Whist Association" and "Sectional Winner" in Old English style lettering, with a gold line drawing of the Liberty Bell in the middle. Surrounding this are the four playing card symbols in gold line design (hearts, clubs diamonds, spades), with the hearts and diamonds filled in with red coloring.

Excellent overall condition, having some expected age/surface wear but not bad at all. Glass is clear, gold detailing is good, red areas are strong. No chips, cracks, crazing or major flaws. As this is an older piece out of a home, when held at an angle in bright light, you can see there are some expected tiny scratches, tiny wear areas, surface rubbed areas/surface spots, etc., but nothing that is seen when sitting on a table or likely on display, nor is a problem.

Please review the 8 images using the zoom feature to examine closely. This was difficult to photograph, so we shot images using differing backgrounds, lighting, angles, etc., including one image shot without the camera light so it looks yellower, but can help to see some of the detail. The last image is of the blank backside of this piece.

Would be a nifty gift for any player of the whist card game or interested in playing card games in general, or someone associated with the Philadelphia Contract Bridge Association of PA and interested in its history.

2244

1936 Vtg Milton Bradley Co. Card Game of Old Maid Box Only #4681 Cats Nifty vintage toy card game but box only with nothing inside (no cards). Milton Bradley Company, Game of Old Maid, item #4681. States copyright year 1936 in Roman Numerals on box lid and graphics look to date this piece to the 1930s.

Top and bottom box pieces, fitting together properly, both in decent, usable or displayable condition, but with expected wear and age. Full color graphics on box lid, with bright blue dark turquoise background, game title in red and white with black outlining, with two cats sitting among the title letters, one in the "O" of "Old" and one inside the 'D" of "Maid", yellow cats with blue eyes and wearing blue plaid ribbon bows. Box measures 7 7/16 x 5 1/8 inches and sits 1 inch in depth.

Top piece has no tears or pieces missing but has edge wear/paper wear along all edges (topside, bottom rims and corners), creases on sides, a brown double line circular mark on the cat and letters "OL" of old (as if someone had put a dirty glass down on top of the lid at some point), other scuffing/paint color wear, etc. There is what appears to be the original paper price label marked ".50" or 50 cents on one lid end. Box bottom piece has a vertical line corner tear in one corner, with outside white having a general slightly yellowed/aged look with some scuffing, crease lines, etc. (but not bad). Insides of box lid and bottom are clean.

Please use the zoom feature to examine images closely. Also please note that the images could not show the true dark turquoise color correctly. We've shown a mix of images shot both with and without the camera light. Those with the light lighten the turquoise color, while those without the light make it not appear a rich true darker turquoise (sorry, we did the best we could). The color looks much better in person. We've included some images shot without the camera light as those sometimes help in better understanding the condition due to camera light reflections.

Would still look great on display or may be the box you are missing to go with the Old Maid game cards you already have. This will be shipped in a box for safety.

Click for more detail...

23552

Collectible Old Britains England Lead Toy Train Figure Worker Laborer Collectible antique toy soldier type of toy of a male worker or laborer of some type, but we don't know what type. His hands are very curved in a manner that makes us believe that he was meant to 'carry' something, such as pushing a wheel barrow in front of him or carrying some sort of rods or stick type objects. We expect that he originally came with something to carry but when we got him from an older home they only had the figure and not anything he would have carried. On the underside are raised letters which, while some are very worn, say 'Britains Ltd, Proprietors, Made in England, Copyright', so he is a Britains figure.

As such, we will only sell this piece to adult collectors, it should be handled with care and should not be given to children to play with due to concerns with lead exposure.

The man stands about 2 1/4 inches tall, 1 inch wide and 7/8 inches in depth at the base. There is a pin hole on the top of his head, which we believe was made in manufacture, from separating him from the mold in which he was made. We have provided 7 images to try and show from all sides and details for condition purposes, with the figure also shown with a quarter for size comparison. Please note that the white "hot spots" are reflections from the camera lighting. This lighting makes his coloring seem a little bit lighter & brighter than it is in person. You will see in the images from the sides that he, as made, is not standing straight but is leaning slightly forward (as one might expect if you were wheeling or pushing something).

While a fun piece, he clearly has been used and played with and shows his age, so he is not mint. There are no chips or breaks that we see. There is much paint wear, paint chipping/flaking including some paint near/under both of his arms which looks to be peeling upwards so it may flake off. There is paint wear on his face, hands and arms, and clothing with the gray base metal showing through. The bright camera lighting "blands out" some of the paint wear making some of it hard to see, but please understand it is there (a "rough" guess would be that 70%+ of his paint is still there). The paint looks original to us, he does not appear to have been repainted. There is also wear to the underside base on which the piece stands. We are selling this as is/as found. None of this is unexpected for an antique piece like this and supports its age.

A nifty addition for a collectors group of small vintage toy figures. Could be incorporated into an older train set or diorama or other display dealing with workers or working figures or American life in general.

2280

Vtg 1983 2 Pc. Matchbox Peterbilt Walt's Truck w/ Articulated Trailer Nifty vintage toy find out of a home. This is a 2 piece set from Matchbox of a Peterbilt truck cab with its matching articulated trailer in the orange color. On the exterior of the cab on both sides it says both "Peterbilt" and "Walt's. The two pieces fully sit or can be used together or separately, with the trailer having a post on the underside which fits into a slot on the back piece of the cab (this slot has two connected holes, so you can fit the post into the first hole and then slide it into the second hole where it sits more firmly).

When connected, these two pieces measure about 6 3/4 inches in length, about 1 1/8 inches in width and stand about 1 1/4 inches in height. They weigh about 3.6 ounces unpacked and will be shipped in a box for safety.

These are made with a mix of metal and plastic, with the topside of the cab appearing to be made of metal (a magnet does not stick to this), and perhaps everything else made of plastic, we're not sure. There are 6 wheels on the cab and 4 wheels on the trailer, with all rolling fine. As you can see in one image, these two pieces fit together in a manner that permits moving them both as a unit not only forward and backward, but also in a circle (to make turns).

Both pieces are fully labelled on the undersides. On the cab appears Made in Macau, Peterbilt, Matchbox, Matchbox Int'l Ltd 1983, and the numbers 1-80. On the underside of the trailer appears Matchbox, Articulated Trailer, copyright symbol with 1981, Matchbox Int'l Ltd. So these pieces were made in the early 1980's and therefore vintage toy cars or trucks.

Very good slightly used condition, with no major breaks, pieces missing, parts missing, etc., but with some wear. The truck cab has several tiny paint chips to the orange paint where you see dots of the gray metal coming through, along outer or pointed edges, corners, top decor, etc., some slightly bigger than others, not bad but they are there (this is not mint). There is a bumpy roughness along the top edge of one of the box piece sides on the trailer. It doesn't feel chipped, just having a rounded tiny bumpiness on this one top edge side for about 1 1/8 inches. We can't tell if this was molded this way or represents wear/use wear. There is other slight wear to these older truck pieces, some slight dirt, etc., but not bad. The four windows in the cab are all there and clear. Please examine the images closely using the zoom feature.

We are separately listing another similar Matchbox truck cab and trailer in the black color that came out of the same home. If you are interested in them both, please email prior to inputting the order. The system is set up to calculate the shipping for each item separately and won't automatically provide the postage savings for shipping both trucks and trailers in the same box. We would be pleased to calculate that for you.

1983 2 Pc. Matchbox Kenworth Aerodyne Truck w/ Articulated Trailer Nifty vintage toy find out of a home. This is a 2 piece set from Matchbox of a Kenworth Aerodyne truck cab with its matching articulated trailer in the black color. The two pieces fully sit or can be used together or separately, with the trailer having a post on the underside which fits into a slot on the back piece of the cab (this slot has two connected holes, so you can fit the post into the first hole and then slide it into the second hole where it sits more firmly).

When connected, these two pieces measure about 6 3/4 inches in length, about 1 1/8 inches in width and stand about 1 3/8 inches in height. They weigh about 3.4 ounces unpacked and will be shipped in a box for safety. The trailer piece has four formed holes in the flatbed as made. We don't know if originally this had another top piece which fit into these holes, or why they are there. We only have what you see in the images.

These are made primarily with metal for the truck cab and the flat, sideless trailer (a magnet doe4s not stick to this), but having plastic silver colored ornamentation on the cab and for the underside of the cab, as well as the wheels.

On the cab appears Matchbox, Kenworth Aerodyne, Matchbox Int'l Ltd 1983, Made in Thailand, and S:100. On the underside of the trailer appears Matchbox, Articulated Trailer, copyright symbol with 1981, Matchbox Int'l Ltd. So these pieces were made in the early 1980's and therefore vintage toy cars or trucks.

Very nice overall condition, with no major breaks, pieces missing, parts missing, etc., but with expected slight wear, primarily on the trailer. On the four trailer outer corners they each have tiny paint chips to the black paint where you see dots of the gray metal coming through, with several other touches of this along the trailer side and inner front edges, but all not bad. These pieces have a bit of dust/dirt, and other light wear/tiny spots, but nothing bad. All 6 windows in the truck cab are there and clear. Please examine the images closely using the zoom feature.

Click for more detail...

1271

Britains Toy Lead Train Figure Seated Woman Missing Movable Arm Collectible antique small old lead figure of a seated woman. We think the lady is dressed like a servant or housewife with a white apron over her pink dress and tied at her back in a bow. She was made in England by Britains. On the backside of her pink dress near the hem in raised letters are the words "Made England, Britains Ltd., Proprietors, Copyright".

What is most important to note about this piece is that the woman is missing her right arm. There is a knob present, the kind of which we have seen on other similar pieces when one arm is movable (the arm would have a circular end with a hole in it which would fit over this knob to permit moving it forward and backward). So, we believe she once had a movable arm but, as sometimes happens, the piece broke off and we do not have it. This is the manner in which we got her from an older home, and we are selling this as is/as found. Please note that the she probably originally came with something to sit on such as a bench or chair, but we don't have that piece, either.

We don't know if this figure was originally sold to be used with a train set or a village display (such as a Christmas village or Christmas scene display) or as part of some other old toy set or scene. It definitely is an old, antique or vintage piece, although we don't know the exact age (we are not toy dealers and just describe what we see). She is definitely made of a cast metal which we believe could be lead from similar pieces we've handled and seen. As such, we will only sell this to adult collectors, it should be handled with care and should not be given to children to play with due to concerns with lead exposure.

The woman is about 1 3/4 inches in length laying down, with a width of about 3/4 inch, and her "height" when laying on a table is about 1 inch to the topside tip of her hair. There is a tiny circular indented or concave spot at the top of the woman's head which we believe was made in manufacture, from separating her from the mold in which they she was made. We have provided 7 images to try and show from differing angles and details for condition purposes, with the figure also shown with a quarter for size comparison. Please note that the white "hot spots" are reflections from the camera lighting.

Beyond the missing arm, this piece shows other age and wear. There is a dot hole in the woman's left eye (the other eye is just painted over in a peach skin color and we think it may be that the paint here had an air bubble that burst leaving the open hole or perhaps something pressed into this area, but it is a very even looking oval hole). Her nose seems very flat with worn paint gray metal edges, but there is skin colored paint between these edge nose lines so we don't think it was broken off. There is paint wear, paint chipping/flaking. You can see the large area of paint loss on the woman's front apron, with other loss on her arm, upper dress, face, hair, back and seat area of dress, etc., with lots of gray metal showing through. The bright camera lighting may "bland out" some of the paint wear making some of it hard to see, but it is there. The paint looks original to us, she does not appear to have been repainted.

This figure could be used within a collectors group of small vintage toy figures or incorporated into an older train set or diorama or other display dealing with country life or American life in general.

Please note that we have many other lead toys listed separately for sale. Click for more detail...

1272

Antique England Toy Lead Train Figure Man Carrying Pig, Missing Feet Collectible antique small old lead figure of a man carrying an animal which looks like a pig, although the coloring is gray rather than pink. The man could be a farmer carrying his pig or a butcher from the white frock coat, perhaps carrying the animal from market back to his store. His hat looks like the older type worn by firemen, so he also could be a fireman carrying the pig or animal away from a fire. He was made in England. The man is labelled on the backside of his white/ivory coat near the bottom in raised letters "Copyright England" (not all the letters in "Copyright" are there but this is clearly what the word is). It is possible that the male figure is a Britains piece, but we can't promise that since Britains, Ltd. Proprietors does not appear.

What is most important to note about this piece is that both of his legs are broken above the feet, so the feet and base are missing and the man can not presently stand. A handy person could still stand the man in a display or diorama via inserting his legs into some putty, however, this is the manner in which we got him from an older home, and we are selling him as is/as found.

He is definitely made of a cast metal which we believe could be lead from similar pieces we've handled and seen. As such, we will only sell this to adult collectors, it should be handled with care and should not be given to children to play with due to concerns with lead exposure.

The man laying down currently has a length of about 2 inches, with a width of 3/4 inch and a depth of about 5/8 inch. There is a broken off piece at the top tip of the man's black hat which we believe was made in manufacture, from separating him from the mold in which he was made. We have provided 7 images to try and show from differing angles and details for condition purposes, with the man also shown with a quarter for size comparison. Please note that the white "hot spots" are reflections from the camera lighting.

Beyond the missing feet, this piece shows other age and wear. There is paint wear, paint chipping/flaking. The man's paint loss is generally small flaked spot areas with gray metal showing through. There are some larger areas on paint loss on his legs, arms/hands and hat, and smaller paint wear areas including line ridge wear areas on his white coat and face. The bright camera lighting may "bland out" some of the paint wear making some of it hard to see, but it is there. The paint looks original to us, he does not appear to have been repainted.

This figure could be used within a collectors group of small vintage toy figures or incorporated into an older train set or diorama or other display dealing with country life or American life in general.

Please note that we have many other lead toys listed separately for sale. Click for more detail...

1330

Old 10 piece Majolica Pottery Child Dollhouse Miniature Tea Set Nifty antique toy collectible, a child's miniature dollhouse (doll house) tea set (teaset) consisting of 10 pieces and one lid: a large base tray, a teapot (with no lid), a creamer, a two handled sugar (with a lid), three cups all without handles, and 3 plates or saucers for the cups. All pieces are pottery or ceramic (not china or porcelain). From the coloring and glazing on the undersides these could be old majolica pieces as opposed to being just pottery, but we don't know that for certain. The coloring is a mottled green and tan (which also reminds us of some majolica pieces we've seen). The tray has a raised design in the border area molded into the ceramic or earthenware, with leaves, circles and lines.

There is no manufacturer marking of any kind on any of the pieces. These pieces all look handmade to us. The pieces appear slightly misshapen or not quite round or not level top edges (on the plates and cups), with the underside of the tray rim on which the piece sits looking particularly handmade/misshapen or not as one would find when manufactured via a machine. The center portion of the tray is also not level, curving slightly and higher in some spots than elsewhere. There are some bits of extra pottery adhered to the pieces, and the handles on the bigger pieces look hand applied as does the spout on the teapot which is solid and comes to a point at the top end (it is not an "open" spout through which liquid could flow as a real teapot would have and as seen on even manufactured miniature teapots). And there are many rough edges and these pieces are roughly made in spots, including some chips which appear to have been made "in manufacture" since they are "glazed over"...all adding to the believeability of being a handmade collectible.

The tray is oblong, measuring about 5 3/4 x 3 5/16 inches and sitting about 1/2 inch in height (to the top of the outer rim which is higher than the central part of the tray). All the other pieces can sit on the tray. The tallest of these is the creamer measuring about 1 1/2 inches in height, with the sugar and teapot just slightly smaller in height and the tea cups about 1/2 inch in height. The plates or saucers have no "inner circle" for centering the cups on the saucers (which is why we think they might be plates) and measure about 1 1/8 inches in diameter. When the creamer is sitting on the tray, the greatest "height" to this set is about 1 3/4 inches. We've provided 8 images to show pieces on the tray and off, topsides and bottom sides, and a grouping with a quarter for size comparison. Please note that the white "hot spots" are reflections from the camera lighting on the glossy glazed surfaces.

This definitely appears to us to be an old, antique or vintage children's toy, although we don't know the age for certain, but are guessing it is not new from the style. It came out of an elderly person's home. Because we believe this is an older collectible and we don't know the composition of the paint or glazing used, it is possible that there was lead used in the paint or glaze. Due to the concerns with lead, this collectible should only be purchased by an adult collector and not given to children to play with.

Terrific look and these pieces have aged well overall, but they are not mint and have minor flaws. We are guessing that the tea pot once had a lid, too, but we don't have that. You can see in the images that the lid for the sugar likely once had a top handle but that is gone, leaving a chipped, unglazed center circle area on the lid. There are minor tiny chips on edges of several pieces, including a chip on the top side rim of the creamer and another along the lower base edge of this piece (both of which look "glazed over"), three chips on the underside base of the sugar (one of which is "glazed over"), "glazed over" chips around the bottom edges of the cups, and unglazed tiny chips on the edges of 2 plates and the underside bases of all the plates. There is a very fine line crazing in the glazing on the plates, in the raised top border edge design of the tray, along the cinched in base of the sugar, and perhaps on some of the other pieces (this is hard to see). The tray has a rough outer edge all around although this is "glazed over" or appears as made, there is a tiny hairline in the top border edge in one spot (but this, too, looks like it may have glazing in it, we can't tell for sure), light brown spots on the topside which may be use staining (there are also a few of these spots on the sugar, teapot and 2 plates), some use/age wear in the top raised border area, a few white spots and some "glazed over" chips on the underside. Nothing overly bad nor unexpected, and all adding to the believeability of age and the hand made nature of these pieces.

A neat addition to any collection of miniatures and particularly miniature tea sets, or for use in a displayed doll house or doll collection. Could also be a nice item to add to a collection of majolica or pottery or hand made pottery in particular.
