Vintage Josef Originals Santa Claus Mouse Christmas Mice Figurines Hard to find! Vintage Josef Santa Claus Mouse Christmas Mice Figurines from the 1960's. Josef Originals began in 1942, created by Muriel Joseph, of California, began making and selling lucite jewelry under the name of "Muriel of California". World War II caused the price of lucite to be unaffordable, so Muriel then converted her skills to making ceramic figurines. In 1945, working out of their basement and garage, Muriel her and fiance Tom began their own pottery business. Their printer had misspelled the name from Joseph to Josef on their label. They had no time to fix the error, so the name Josef Originals became the name of the new company.

In the early 50's Muriel discovered that cheap reproductions of her earlier pieces were being made in Japan. Many people took the Japan copies as Josef Originals, and Muriel fought back by making some very beautiful detailed pieces. Her hope was that the new pieces would not be so easy to copy. However the newer, more expensive pieces, along with the Japan reproductions really hurt their business.

In 1954 Muriel & Tom met Mr. Good, he convinced them that if they made their figurines in Japan, it would greatly reduce their expenses. They continued to make Josef Originals in California, until 1960 when they opened a factory in Japan, and began operations by the name of "George Good Corporation" incorporating the name of their new partner and Muriel's new married name (Muriel Joseph George). Eventually production was moved to Korea. In 1981 Muriel retired, however, she continued to create new Josef Original designs until 1985. George Good bought the company in 1982, and sold it in 1985 to Southland Corporation. The Josef Original name now belongs to Applause, Inc. Applause has been making copies of earlier pieces and are signed "Josef Originals by Applause or by Dakin".

This set of mice Santa Claus have the early black oval stickers, each mouse wears a red and white Santa outfit with a holly leaf on the cap and a gold jingle bell on the end of the cap, One is 2 3/4 inches tall and the other is 2 1/2 inches tall, both have the Josef Label on the bottom, both are in excellent condition, no chips. Cute addition to your collection or to your holiday decor!

Vintage Floral Carnation Figurine Bone China Staffordshire England Wonderful Vintage Floral Figurine English Bone China piece from Staffordshire in England by Throley. Adorning this is beautiful piece are three carnation like flower, one blue, one pink and and one red. It is 3 inches tall and about 3 1/2 inches across, has an estimated age of 1960 to 1970 and is marked on the bottom with the Throley banner along with English Bone China, Staffordshire England. It is in lovely condition, no chips except for a green leaf in the center that has the end broken off, barely noticeable due to the intricate design of this piece.

Vintage Beswick Staffordshire King Charles Spaniel Mantel Dog Figurine Vintage Beswick Staffordshire King Charles Spaniel Mantel Dog Figurines, Pair. Beswick Pottery was founded in 1892 and was sold to Royal Doulton in 1969. By the end of 2002, Royal Doulton ceased production of all Beswick products. The dog figurines or mantel figurines were produced mid century, around 1950's to 1960's. This set is styled after the Staffordshire King Charles Spaniel, each is beautifully detailed, white body with gold accents, gray and black paws, with matching nose colors and bright yellow eyes. A very nice replica of the famous Staffordshire Dog figurines. They are the large 8 inches tall size, 5 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide, both are marked Beswick, England, 1378-5. Beswick Spaniel dog figurine. White with gold accents and hand painted details.Impressed Mark on the bottom reads Beswick England 1378-5. Both are in excellent condition, no chips except that one has a flat chip on the base, quite hard to notice and not visible unless it is turned over and examined closely. A beautiful and hard to find set for your collection!

Antique Germany Bisque Boy Fingurine Antique Bisque Germany Boy Figurine. This figurine dates to the late 1800's to early 1900's, it is of a boy dressed in very fancy clothing, he has peach colored flowers all over him with a pale green sash, he is highlighted with gold accents on his shirt and a gold trim on his collar. He is just over 7 1/4 inches tall, not marked as to where he is from but is no doubt from Germany, the bottom of his base is solid but he is hollow on the inside. He is in excellent condition, has an air hole in the back as many of the early pieces do, no chips, does have a mold mark on the bottom and a couple of the back, not noticable when displayed and common in pieces of this age. He would be a lovely addition to your collection!

Norman Rockwell Daydreamer Figurine Dave Grossman Club Edition Norman Rockwell The Daydreamer Figurine. This piece is a Rockwell Club Edition, made in a limited edition and called The Daydreamer. It was made in 1973 by Dave Grossman and depicts a young girl daydreaming as she reads a novel. The magazine has a picture of a movie star, at the girl's feet is a compact, lipstick, powder brush, comb and brush, no doubt she is dreaming about becoming a movie star. It is 4 1/2 inches tall, is marked on the bottom with the Grossman mark and is in excellent condition.

Capo di monte Pink White Roses Rosebuds on Branch Centerpiece Italy Capodimonte Pink Rose, Roses and Rosebuds on Branch Large Centerpiece. This is an exquisite piece! It features pink and white roses on a branch, there is one large in the center, one rosebud that is partly opened on the and along with a bud on the other end, these are are surrounded with lots of pretty green leaves. This piece is 10" long, about 4" tall at tallest point and about 6" across at the widest point. It is in beautiful excellent condition, no chips, there is a line that is a manufacture line under the top of the open rosebud, barely noticeable but mentioned for accuracy's sake. Marked on the bottom the blue Capodimonte mark, this piece has an estimated age of 1950 to 1960 and is outstanding example of the work Capodimonte Italy is well known for. A wonderful addition to your collection or decor!

It is in the shape of a bird, looks to be emerging from the egg, entire piece has the luster finish, estimated age is 1920's to the 1930's. The back of the bird has a hole for a small spoon, probably made for some sort of sauce or jam dish. It is 3 inches tall about 2 3/4 inches long, the bottom is marked with Handpainted, Nippon, a diamond shaped symbol and Made in Japan. It is in excellent condition, perfect find for your collection!

This piece dates from 1946 to 1950 and is the shape of a wooden bucket. It has applied pink flowers, some with white centers and green leaves on both sides. The center of most of the flowers is a white rhinestone, gold detail completes the side and rivets on the bucket. It is 4 1/4 inches tall and 4 1/4 inches across, marked on the bottom with 50513E. It is in excellent condition, no chips except that two of the flowers and one leaf have an edge chipped off, not noticeable due to the intricacy of the flowers. Vintage Royal Kendall England Roses in Mini Pitcher Figure Vintage Royal Kendall England Roses in Mini Pitcher Figure. This is a really pretty piece, it has a yellow rose and a red rose in a oblong handled pitcher shape. It measures about 3 inches tall by and about 4 inches long, it is in very nice condition, there are two tiny, tiny flea bites on the underneath side of one of the petals that are not noticeable unless you are actually looking for it. There is a spot where the roses meet that looks like it has a small glaze skip. It is marked on the bottom with the Royal Kendall mark and would be a lovely addition to your collection!

This is a lovely hand painted head vase of a beautiful young woman with her original pearl earrings. She has long black eyelashes, rosy cheeks and ruby red lips. She is wearing a white blouse with gold accents and a gold brooch. She is in excellent condition, no crazing, she has a teeny smug on her nose, really not noticeable and the edge of one her eyelashes is not quite even, possibly has been touched up, really hard to see or tell. She is just over 4 1/2 inches tall, 3 1/2 inches long and about 2 1/2 inches wide. She is marked on the bottom with C5938 over Napco Ware and has the original silver sticker that reads, National Potteries Co., Cleveland,O. Made in Japan. Antique Germany Elfinware Mossware Basket Wheelbarrow Figurine Antique Elfinware or Mossware Pieces, a Basket and Wheelbarrow, these pieces date from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. The wheelbarrow has luster type finish and blue flowers with a rose, it is just over 1 1/4 inches tall by about 3 inches long. The basket is more ornate with roses, leaves and moss, it is about 2 inches tall and almost 2 3/4 inches long. The basket is not marked but the mark is not readable, the Wheelbarrow is not marked, both are most certainly from Germany. They are in lovely condition, no chips, the wheelbarrow has one flower missing from underneath the rose and the basket has one spot that is missing a couple of nibbles on one of the leaves, barely noticeable and common in these pieces.
