ts8419

Vintage Westmoreland Glass Milk Glass Spiral Twist Lotus Candle Holders Vintage Westmoreland Milk Glass Spiral Twist Lotus Candle Holders. This pair of mid century milk glass candle holders was made in the 1960s and have an Art Deco style to them.

Westmoreland Glass was established in 1889 and the first piece of glass was produced in 1890. A few years later, the plant was purchased by two brothers, Charles H. and George West, from A. J. Stevenson and the Specialty Glass Company. Financial support was provided by Ira A. Brainard. Westmoreland Specialty Company changed hands again when in 1920 tension between brothers arose and George West sold his interest to Charles West and Ira Brainard. In 1923 the name was changed to Westmoreland Glass Company.

In 1981 ownership of Westmoreland was purchased by Dave Grossman, according to the National Westmoreland Glass Collectors Club. On May 21, 1984, the Westmoreland Glass Company closed its doors just a few years shy of its 100 year anniversary.

These candle holders are 6 3/4" tall and 3 3/4" across the base. Both are in excellent condition, no chips. Great addition to your collection or as a decorative piece to your decor!

Please see our other listings for additional pieces of Westmoreland Glass and other pieces of milk glass.

ts5719

Vintage Cut Glass Crystal Diamond Pattern Wine Glass Set Vintage Cut Glass Crystal Diamond Pattern Wine Glass Set. This set is a beauty! We attempted to research the pattern name and maker of this set but could find that compared to the quality of this set. The glass is very high quality, at least that of Waterford crystal quality but it has a much better ring to it when tapped on the edge of the wine. The estimated age on this set is 1920 to 1940, however, given the quality it could be earlier. Each wine has a detailed diamond pattern on the bowl of the wine, the stem is also very detailed with delicate faucet cuts on each of the ribs or the stem, base has a starburst pattern. Each is 5 1/8 inches tall, and 2 5/8 inches across the mouth, all four are in excellent condition, no chips. Please see our other listings for additional pieces of fine crystal.

ts6688

Imperial Glass Candlewick Water Tumbler Sun Purple or Lavender Vintage Imperial Glass Crystal Candlewick Flat Water Tumbler Glass Set in a Sun Lavender or Sun Purple. Imperial Glass produced this pattern from 1936 to 1984, it was one of their most popular patterns.

Glass made from the 1860's through 1915 contained manganese to make the glass brighter and to act as a stabilizer. The side effect of adding the manganese was that if the glass was exposed to direct sunlight, over time it would turn lavender or sun purple. Most companies ceased to use manganese in glass around 1915, some companies such as Imperial, Heisey, Duncan & Miller, Fostoria and Cambridge did not make this change until the end of the 1930's. This tumbler is an example of glass that has been exposed to some degree of sunlight as it is a very faint lavender. It will continue to turn lavender if it is exposed to the sun.

In the 1970's and 1980's the sun purple or lavender colors became extremely popular. Now some collectors like the sun lavender glass and some don't, has become a personal choice for many collectors.

This tumbler has a flat bottom, it is 5 3/8" tall and just over 2 3/4" across the mouth, holds 12 ounces. In excellent condition, no chips and no water lines. Please see our other listings for additional pieces of elegant glass.

Vintage Phoenix Glass Freesia Blue Vase Original Label Vintage Phoenix Glass Freesia Blue Vase Original Label. The Phoenix Glass Company was founded in 1880 and is located in Monaca, Pennsylvania. They began producing art glass in 1932 when they acquired about fifty molds from the Consolidated Glass Company when Consolidated ceased production. The line of Phoenix was called the Reuben Line. Phoenix Glass then created and designed new molds based on these molds and called the line Sculptured Art Glass, this line was produced from 1933 to 1958. Both the Ruben Line and Sculptured Art line where only marked with paper labels. The earliest versions of Sculptured Art Glass had silver Phoenix paper labels, later versions featured gold paper labels. Phoenix produced Sculptured Art Ware on and off until 1958. The company is still in business, however, they no longer make any pieces by hand and will never again make Sculptured Art Ware. This vase is the Freesia pattern, beautiful blue and white or clear frost finish, one of the earlier pieces with the silver label still intact on the bottom. It is 8 1/4 inches tall and 6 1/2 inches across the mouth, in beautiful condition, no water lines, does have a very small chip on the base as shown in the picture, not noticeable unless you actually looking for it. It would be a beautiful addition to your collection!

Vintage Westmoreland Glass Green Satin Swung Vase Hand Painted Daisy Vintage Westmoreland Glass Green Satin Swung Vase with a Hand Painted pattern of White Daisies with yellow centers and white leaves and stems. This style vase is known as a swung vase as it is literally swung when hot, to form the long flowing shape.

This piece is nicely hand painted, the satin glass is a dark green from the 1970's and is an excellent example of mid century decor. This color of green was extremely popular during this time period, it is not marked with the Westmoreland logo as it originally had a foil Westmoreland tag on it. It is 10 1/4" tall by about 2 1/2" across the base. It is in excellent condition, no chips, does have a very slight water line about 2" down from the top, due to the satin color this is barely visible. TS3271

Antique Goofus Glass Grape Large Candy Fruit Compote Antique Goofus Glass Grape Large Candy Fruit Compote. Goofus glass is pressed glass which was cold, unfired paint decorated in the early 20th century in America by several prominent glass factories. It was made in considerable quantities and sold originally for very little. It was given as premiums for buying things, awarded as prizes at fairs, and was the first carnival glass preceding the iridized product we refer to as carnival glass today. The most common colors used were gold, red, and green with gold usually being the predominant color. Indiana Glass Company in Dunkirk, Indiana was possibly the most prolific producer of Goofus Glass. It was not known by that name initially, but gained the name possibly because the painted decoration wasn't very durable and people felt perhaps that it was "goofy" or that someone had tried to "goof - us".

More attractive pieces preceding Indiana's offerings existed as turned out by the Dugan Diamond Company and Northwood Glass. It is extremely difficult to pinpoint the exact time of start and finish of this exclusively American glass making phenomena. It has been thought to have started around 1900 and was all but effectively ended by 1930.

This piece was made by either Northwood or Dugan, it is an extremely large piece and is a seldom seen style. It has a pattern of grapes and vines, is 8 3/4 inches tall, 9 1/2 inches across the top, base is 5 inches. This piece has a lot of detail to it, top is ruffled, the stem is six sided and a sort of sawtooth edging, has a three part mold and the paint is almost completely intact. There are a few spots that has some loss and two leaves with a bit more of loss then the other spots. Beautiful piece in remarkable condition that would be a lovely addition to your collection!
