Click for more detail...

ts6688

Imperial Glass Candlewick Water Tumbler Sun Purple or Lavender Vintage Imperial Glass Crystal Candlewick Flat Water Tumbler Glass Set in a Sun Lavender or Sun Purple. Imperial Glass produced this pattern from 1936 to 1984, it was one of their most popular patterns.

Glass made from the 1860's through 1915 contained manganese to make the glass brighter and to act as a stabilizer. The side effect of adding the manganese was that if the glass was exposed to direct sunlight, over time it would turn lavender or sun purple. Most companies ceased to use manganese in glass around 1915, some companies such as Imperial, Heisey, Duncan & Miller, Fostoria and Cambridge did not make this change until the end of the 1930's. This tumbler is an example of glass that has been exposed to some degree of sunlight as it is a very faint lavender. It will continue to turn lavender if it is exposed to the sun.

In the 1970's and 1980's the sun purple or lavender colors became extremely popular. Now some collectors like the sun lavender glass and some don't, has become a personal choice for many collectors.

This tumbler has a flat bottom, it is 5 3/8" tall and just over 2 3/4" across the mouth, holds 12 ounces. In excellent condition, no chips and no water lines. Please see our other listings for additional pieces of elegant glass.

This style vase is known as a swung vase as it is literally swung when hot, to form the long flowing shape.

This piece is nicely hand painted, the satin glass is a dark green from the 1970's and is an excellent example of mid century decor. This color of green was extremely popular during this time period, it is not marked with the Westmoreland logo as it originally had a foil Westmoreland tag on it. It is 10 1/4" tall by about 2 1/2" across the base. It is in excellent condition, no chips, does have a very slight water line about 2" down from the top, due to the satin color this is barely visible. Please see our other listings for additional pieces of Fenton Glass.

Westmoreland Glass Hobnail Milk Glass Tall Candle Holders Vintage Westmoreland Glass Hobnail Milk Glass Tall Candle Holders. This pair of mid century milk glass candle holders were made between 1950 and 1960, Westmoreland began making this pattern in 1952. Westmoreland Glass was established in 1889 and the first piece of glass was produced in 1890.
A few years later, the plant was purchased by two brothers, Charles H. and George West, from A. J. Stevenson and the Specialty Glass Company. Financial support was provided by Ira A. Brainard. Westmoreland Specialty Company changed hands again when in 1920 tension between brothers arose and George West sold his interest to Charles West and Ira Brainard. In 1923 the name was changed to Westmoreland Glass Company.

In 1981 ownership of Westmoreland was purchased by Dave Grossman, according to the National Westmoreland Glass Collectors Club. On May 21, 1984, the Westmoreland Glass Company closed its doors just a few years shy of its 100 year anniversary.

These candle holders are 5 1/4" tall and 4 1/2" across the base. One is in excellent condition, the other has a small chip under the lip of the candle insert, and a tight hairline on the top of the bottom, both of these spots are not noticeable and will not affect use. Please see our other listings for additional pieces of vintage Westmoreland and other pieces of milk glass.

Vintage Fenton Glass Red Ruby Thumbprint Tall Swung Vase Vintage Fenton Glass Red Ruby Thumbprint Tall Swung Vase, A beautiful example of Mid Century Art Glass. This is known as a swung vase as it is literally swung when hot, to form the long flowing shape. Fenton Glass was established in 1905 by Frank and John Fenton in Martin's Ferry, Ohio, their earliest pieces were hand painted on blanks from other glass companies. Libbey Glass Amber Pisa Rock Sharp Tumblers with Gold Metal Coasters Libbey Glass Amber Pisa Rock Sharp Tumblers with Gold Metal Coaster Inserts, Set of Four. This Vintage set dates to 1969 and comes with the hard to find gold metal coaster inserts. These tumblers have a large block pattern. The gold filigree metal coasters are in the style of gold accessories and vanity mirrors that were the rage in the 1960's and 1970's.

These tumblers are 6 1/8" tall and 2 3/4" across the mouth. The metal coasters have four little feet, they are 3 1/8" tall. The tumblers fit into them and are easy to remove to wash after use. Two fit tightly around the tumbler when lifted and two of them do not, so the glass comes out of the coaster when picked up. All are in excellent condition, a beautiful addition to your collection or barware!

ts6536

Vintage Mid Century Modern George Briard Gold Glass Grecian Tray Dish Vintage Mid Century Modern George Briard Gold Glass Grecian Tray or Serving Dish. George Briard was born as Jascha Brojdo in the Ukraine in 1917, he moved to Chicago in 1937. He was a noted, award winning designer in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. He is most well known for his signature dishware and glassware, pieces produced ranged from cups and plates to gold plated serving dishes.

His glassware collection was stocked at noted department stores, such as Neiman Marcus and Bonwit Teller. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and served in the U.S. Army throughout World War II as a Russian interpreter. In 1947, he was discharged from the Army and started working in New York with Max Wille, whom he had met in art school. Brojdo began painting metal serving trays for sale, and evidently a friend of whom was a fellow art student came up with the name Georges Briard to mark his commercial pieces. Brodjo was also a painter and would use his real name on his art pieces, but Georges Briard became his signature as a designer of these commercial articles.

This is a beautiful piece with a pattern that is not seen very often. It has a gold and pink pattern, the center has three Grecian ladies with their arms up,one is holding a leaf and the other is holding a dish up, the remaining lady is also holding the leaf as well as a dish on her lap. The back of the glass is textured, the top side has the pattern and is smooth, it is signed with the Briard signature. It is 11" long, 6" across and 1 1/2" deep and is in overall excellent condition, no chips, the pattern is completely intact, no chips except for a tiny fleabite on the underneath side at the corner, not at all noticeable. Perfect addition to your collection!

Antique Etched Crystal Lily of The Valley Tumblers and Wine Glass Set Antique Etched Crystal Lily of The Valley Tumblers and Wine Glass Set. I have attempted to research the maker of this pattern without success. It looks like Tiffany's Lilly of the Valley, however, I could not find any pictures of antique pieces of it. This set dates to the early 1900's, it has a very detailed and delicate pattern, the glass has a beautiful bell tone ring to it when tapped with a finger indicating fine crystal. The bottoms of the tumblers are ground, bottoms of the stemmed pieces are not.

This set has seven tumblers, each is 5 1/8" tall and 2 5/8" across the mouth. There are three of the stemmed pieces, each is 4 3/8" tall and 2 3/8" across the mouth. All are in excellent condition, no chips. A very unique and beautiful set!
