1988 Olympic Commemorative Spoon Set of Three
1988 Seoul, Korea Games, Average spoon height is 4"; features three spoons.
The First spoon denotes the official logo of the games on its knop (decorative end of the handle of the spoon) beneath a clear coating noting the 24th Olympiad. Its stem is formed as a stem of bamboo. The base of the spoon is round (larger than a quarter) and details a few lotus flowers (a common symbol often found in Buddhist sculptures and paintings).
The Second spoon denotes the mascot of the 1988 games on it "Hodori", a little tiger designed by Kim Hyun Ho and is derived from the Korean words for "Ho" Tiger and "Dori" diminutive for Boys. Hodori is under a clear bubble of coating in color waving. The stem of this spoon features stick figures representing the pentathlon (the contest featuring five different events). The base on this spoon is narrow and has the logo design, and title of the games and the date.
The Third spoon has Hodori at the top (all metal) below are the words "SEOUL and the date". The stem of the spoon represents the torch and the base of the spoon represents the stick figures of the events at the summer Olympics all in a circle design.
Manufactured under license from the SLOOC produced by Jung Won Industries Ltd. in a pewter finish frame (although it says Antique Brass on the back)- approx. 6 3/8 in wide by 8 1/2 in. tall. The frame can be hung on the wall with a back hanger.
A nice addition to the olympic collector.
