Circa: Mid-1900's Condition: Good++ Manufacturer: Stroupe G. K.
This is a nicely made machinist parallel clamp! This one is 9" long, and has a capacity of about 6+" between the beams. The clamp works just fine, good screws and thread, solid steel, rust free and ready to use! We note very minor wear, some metal darkening or staining, no rust, no cracks or damage. The beams are marked with the maker's name and date as you can see in the photo. I did test this clamp and note that the clamp will hold in parallel fashion, but for some reason the maker has machined about a 2 degree angle on the mouth parts of the beams that holds the parts. This cause some stain on the threaded screw when closing the clamp onto the part in parallel fashion. There is enough stock on the beams to remove the noted angle if you wish by machining the inside holding surface flat and at a perfect right angle to the threaded screws, or use the clamp as it is if you wish. |
