<title>St. George Slaying the Dragon Stove Tile</title>
<link>http://pages.tias.com/9513/PictPage/3923704661.html</link>
<description>This tile depicts a classic and historical scene - of Saint George Slaying the Dragon. It measures 6 quot; x 8 quot; and is 3 4 quot; thick. Depicts a knight on horseback - with his lance going into a dragon that is beneath the horse. There is a Latin phrase just over his head. This are several firing cracks on the back - and remnants of either kiln blobs or an installation on the sides of the tile. Molded design in raised line. Green majolica glaze. Age and country of origin are unknown. This handmade tile does not lay flat - there is an upward curve to the piece. A fascinating example of timeless subject matter. <title>Spanish Figural Scene Tile - Don Quixote </title>
<link>http://pages.tias.com/9513/PictPage/3923704646.html</link>
<description>Very colorful glazes on this scenic tile. This may be illustrating a scene from Don Quixote. There are 4 people in the scene - the main character is standing in front of an empty bookcase - and books are strewn around the floor. This could be a library... Done in wax resist technique, this Spanish tile probably dates around 1930-1940. Measures 7 3 4 quot; square by 1 2 quot; thick. All corners of the tile are chipped, and there are some smaller edge chips. A frame would cover these chips nicely. The scene is in terrific condition T-2076 Key words: tiles antique vintage ceramic art pottery </description>
