Vintage Rayon Blend Gray New Look Day Dress L' Aiglon

So much to say about this dress-- During WWII, fabric was rationed in order to provide uniforms for the war effort. The result was shorter skirts, and straighter lines in design for all clothing in the 1940s. Women were really ready for Christian Dior's quot; New Look quot; which hit the runways after WWII. With its natural line in the bodice and extremely full and longer skirts, it brought back some of the luxury to dressing that women had become accustomed to in the late 1930s. The style also fits many body types and was, and remains, very popular--as it and looks nice equally on very thin and heavier women. This is a great dress with classic quot;New Look quot; styling with a fitted, princess style seamed bodice attached to a full circle skirt--shown here with a nylon crinoline petticoat not included . It could be made even fuller by adding more petticoats, as there is lots of fabric in this dress There is just nothing that is more attractive on a woman's body Made by L'Aiglon, this particular dress is made of a rayon blend woven fabric, and has its original and functional metal zipper, as well as a pocket on the right side of the full circle skirt. The bodice is constructed with princess seams that end at the waistline with matching bows, and 3 4 length raglan style quot;push-up quot; sleeves that effectively hide elbows, and makes your lower arm a great bangle venue . The soft overall gray color makes it possible to make several different looks and give opportunity to show off an array of vintage collars, scarves, jewelry, and belts, bows could be easily removed or covered with a belt with this one dress It's also great for showing off some of those lovely vintage coats, even if they have a pattern. Originally probably worn dressed up with leather or suede pumps, or flats , pearls, handbag, gloves, and a big hat think Audrey Hepburn , but can certainly be dressed down to wear to school or out shopping. The manufacturer's tag reads : L'Aiglon: use cool iron, avoid steam. The size tag is quot;size 6 quot; but as we know, vintage sizing does not usually correlate to modern sizing. So we will measure for a good fit. Bust: 36-38 quot; Waist: 27 quot; Hips: full Underarm to Waist: 9 quot; Waist to Hem: 30 quot; Hem: 1 quot; usable Sleeve length: 15 quot; from shoulder, straight arm The dress is in excellent condition. I see no spots or stains, tears or snags in the fabric. There are no odors. Clean and ready to wear to school, church, or work--anywhere you want to feel beautiful

Vintage Woodstock Hippy Leather Jacket Coat Embroidery

What a great jacket Classic 60s-early 70s Pumpkin color, it has lovely embroidery across the back and front yokes and at the wrists-just enough to identify the period but not cheesy or overdone in any way. Made by Woodstock, it is a wearable memory In fabulous condition, the all leather jacket is fully lined in a soft acrylic fabric. Snap front and sleeve closures all function properly. There are a few very tiny pin prick places on the back of the jacket, but nothing that detracts from the beauty or fun of this jacket. The inside of the jacket is in perfect shape. No size tag is in the jacket but the measurements are: with jacket closed Bust Waist area: Underarm to hem: Sleeve length from shoulder seam to wrist: Shoulder to shoulder: Pick up this jacket for school or work or just for a little flower power

Vintage 60s Velvet Empire Waist Formal Dress w Lace

This lovely empire waist formal dress from the late 1960s is amazing You would have to touch to really experience the sensual quality of this dress. Visually, the design is exquisite with an unusual combination of velvet and embroidery trimmed with ecru cotton lace on the puff sleeve, underbust and lower edge of the skirt. The dress is in excellent condition. It has its original functional back zipper, no stains, holes or odors. The bodice is lined with a cotton blend matching the velvet in color. The heaviness of the velvet precludes any reason for wearing a slip with this dress unless more fullness or warmth is wanted The manufacturer's tag reads: quot;Couriers quot;. Care tag says: Dry Clean Only quot;. The size tag reads: size 6, but we need to measure, as vintage sizes rarely correlate to modern sizing. Bust: 35 quot; High underbust waist: 27 quot; Natural waist area: 40 quot; Hips:46 quot; Underarm to high waist: 5 quot; Underarm to hem: 43 quot; Sleeve length: 10 quot; Usable hem: 1 quot; This is a truly lovely dress with a beautiful drape. It would be appropriate for any party or formal function during the fall or winter seasons. Shoes I suggest to be fabric covered pumps or flats, and metal toned strap sandals or flats. You will not be disappointed with this purchase COSTUMING NOTE: This dress could be used as a medieval dress or a base for a medieval dress. For that, I would add a color match undersleeve and perhaps a contrasting detachable train.

Vintage New Look Dress Persian Print Pleated Skirt

This 50s daydress in china silk blue and gold persian print has classic quot;New Look quot; styling with a fitted bodice and full, pleated skirt. To keep anything from obscuring the lovely squared neckline, the maker has added crocheted bra strap loops with snaps. It has it's original metal and functional side zipper. The box pleated skirt gives way to lovely movement--whether its walking or dancing The dress is in Very Good condition. I see no stains, holes, pulls or anything detracting from the beauty of this piece. The only thing keeping it from an Excellent rating is that there is some slight fading on the facing inside the dress, but nothing seen when worn. The dress has been dry cleaned since I obtained it and it is ready to wear There were no tags with this dress, and therefore we need to measure for a good fit. The sizing falls within the modern SMALL designation: Bust: 36 quot; Waist: 26.5 quot; Hips: Full Underarm to waist: 7.5 quot; Waist to hem: 26 quot; Hem: 3 quot; usable Belt: 31 quot; Cleaning: Dry Clean Only This is classic 50s styling and nothing is lovelier on a woman's body than that A very versatile dress, it would look smashing anywhere from shopping, a wedding, clubbing, or even a stroll on the beach--shoes in hand . Speaking of shoes, this classy dress would look lovely with period pumps fabric-covered, not leather , strappy metal-toned sandals, or dressy flats.

Vintage 40s Soft Pink Swing Jacket by Style Trends

What an awesome jacket--soft pink, with an original closure oversized pink same fabric covered button , and lined with a soft taffeta. There is no better color to compliment anyone's complexion, and this pink was unique to the 1940s. Called a quot;topper quot; during the period, this forerunner of the quot;car-coat quot; of the 1950s, this swing jacket is easy to throw on with your jeans and run to the store, or it can be worn with dresses--as it was at the time. Very full cut, which is nice if you like wearing yummy sweaters underneath. Could even be used for your maternity period and after The tags in the jacket read: quot;Style Trends of California quot;. Size tag is unreadable, so we will measure for a good fit. This jacket has a great forties look and is right in step with today's styles

Vintage Deep Turqoise Velvet Dress HeliotropeSatin Trim

I wanted to feature the back of this dress because I think it is so lovely. The scoop neck in the front is a pretty line too, but the back is one of the prettiest I've seen. This party dress--from the late 50s, early 60s is deep teal heavy velvet with heliotrope satin bands. The quot;New Look quot; influence is apparent with its more form fitting bodice and full skirt which would move nicely, one would think, on the dance floor or stage. Shown here with nylon crinoline, not included . The 3 4 raglan length sleeve is always pretty and covers elbows, giving a more graceful line to the silhouette. The original metal zipper is in place in the back of the dress and is functional. The dress is lined in heliotrope satin. I don't see any holes or stains. There are no odors. The dress is in very good to excellent condition, with a little wear evident inside the dress. NOTE: This dress is a little large on my model, please pardon the loose fit across the bust area. Bust: 36 quot; Waist: 26 quot; Hips: Full Sleeve length from underarm: 11 1 2 quot; Underarm to waist: 26 quot; Waist to hem: 26 quot; Hem 3.5 quot; Usable hem: 2 quot; There was a dress styled similarly to this in the Broadway production of BYE BYE BIRDIE It was lovely and was used in a dance sequence. I would think this dress would likewise move very well, with its full skirt. It would be lovely for a winter party or wedding, or clubbing. This dress begs for fabric covered period style pumps or flats to finish it off. It has been dry cleaned and is ready to go dancing

Vintage Waisted 60s CottonBlend Day Dress Sun Dress S

This little high-waisted dress is a real cutie, and another dress with the quot;New Look quot; influence. Its made of a cotton polyester blend, and boasting another blend--in the zipper. The back zipper is a plasic one, with a metal pull and is fully functional. These elements place the dress in the mid 1960s.The top is fully lined with a white blend of the same fabric, and the straps can be let out 1 1 2 inches if needed. The tag reads quot;Picture Me quot;, and the square neckline could indeed make a lovely photo. It's classic late 50s, early 60s and versatile enough to go through the summer and into the fall easily. Fall print colors beg for a little sweater to quot;go with quot; It would look so cute with one of those knitted short cardigans or shrugs so popular right now--or with a cardigan from the period flung casually over the shoulders . There is no size tag in the dress, so we will use measurements for a good fit. Bust:33 quot; Waist:26 quot; Hips: Full Underarm to Waist: 7 quot; Waist to Hem: 23 quot; The condition of this dress is excellent. It is clean and ready to wear. I see not a hole, stain, or fabric pull. There are not any odors. It comes to you clean and ready to wear, but to freshen in the future it can be hand-washed or machine washed on extra gentle cycle cold. I would hang to dry or dry on air fluff cycle and use a warm iron if needed.
