This Cup and Saucer Set is part of the Homer Laughlin Suntone pattern in the Debutante shape. Suntone, made from terra cotta with snow white clay handles, was designed by Don Schereckengost. The Collector’s Encyclopedia of Homer Laughlin China by Joanne Jasper describes this unique design this way: The “handles appear to be have been extruded from a cake decorating device and then stuck on the pieces. The dinnerware was introduced in 1948 through Wards. Pieces from this pattern appear to be fairly rare. |
