Pasadena Tournament of Roses Golden Jubilee, 1889 - 1939
This magazine gives the history of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, the Rose Parade, held every New Year's Day, from its conception in 1889 to 1939. One of the first floats is shown on page one. Some of the prize winners from each year, beginning in 1927, are shown in color, one to a page. Although Shirley Temple was the Grand Marshal of the parade in 1939, she is not mentioned or pictured in this magazine.
The inside front cover advertises Tanner Motor Livery, showing the Gray Line Sightseeing tour bus, a limousine to be driven with a chauffeur, and the latest model (1939) U-Drive Cars. Inside back cover advertises Heine's Tobacco, and the outside back cover has a full page ad for Sunkist orange juice.
The magazine, 8-3/4 x 11-3/4 inches, with about 32 pages, comes in its own envelope, unsent. The magazine has only a slightly bent upper corner, and is in very good shape. The envelope has darkened along the edges, and along the glued areas, and has a crinkled flap.
