This is a lovely metal powder box that plays music when the lid is removed. It has a round floral insert in the top. I believe it is a porcelain disk that is protected by a thin celluloid layer but it is hard to tell without taking a chance of damaging it. This celluloid may have been clear at one time but it has a nice aged yellow to it now. This powder box is made out of tin and does have some oxidation and wear. We did not want to destroy its natural aging process so we did not try to clean it. The bottom is made of a gold-painted wood and the feet are round plastic balls (probably bakelite). This musical powder box does play but since I was never any good at Name That Tune I can’t tell you what the song is. This box measures approximately 4 ¼ inches in diameter and 3 ¼ inches tall.
