Condition: Used Manufacturer: General Mills
THE STORY OF FIFTY HYMNS was compiled and published in 1939 by General Mills, Minneapolis MN, the millers of Gold Medal Kitchen-tested Flour) to give the historical facts, purposes and interesting highlights of fifty hymns we all love best. Chosen from many hundreds of hymns of the Protestant, Catholic and Jewish faiths, the hymns’ words are printed with information on the composer, circumstances of its writing and more.
The 121-page faux leather covered booklet was also designed to commemorate the 5th Radio Anniversary of the Hymns of All Churches program featuring Joe Emerson and his fellow musicians. A special anniversary hymn, with music by Fred Jacky and words by George Thorndyke, is also included, as is the recipe for Emerson’s favorite cake – the Anniversary Caramel Cake – provided by Betty Crocker and her staff.
It’s a nice addition to your religious music library and is in Very Good condition. None of this affects the printed material. The covers show very minor edge/corner wear, but there are no other apparent defects inside or out! A nice piece of old-time radio, religious and advertising ephemera! (3811) |
