Progressive Music Series Book Two
For fourth and fifth grades.
Parker, Horatio et al, 1918
This edition includes an added front page, titled Explanation of Eliminations, which explains how some of the songs of German origin had to be removed because they had become objectionable. A list of 24 pages with songs removed is included. Below is the following, ''This process has necessarily eliminated some unobjectionable songs appearing on opposite sides of leaves cut out, and has left an occasional line or two of music on pages immediately following those removed, which it will not be possible to utilize in study. However, the books as they are will permit the uninterrupted teaching of graded music in the public schools of California, and at as early a date as possible the State Board of Education will substitute a new edition.''
