Condition: Used Publisher: American National Red Cross
A 1936 American National Red Cross member card, bearing the signatures of Cary T. Grayson and Mrs. John J. Quin. A bit of research reveals that Cary T. Grayson, born in 1878, was a Navy admiral who served as Medical Officer under Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft and was the personal physicial of President Woodrow Wilson. He was Chairman of the American Red Cross for a several years following his military service. He was born in Culpepper County, Virginia in 1878 and died on February 15, 1938 in Washington, D.C. He is buried in Section 24 of Arlington National Cemetery according to the Arlington National Cemetary website. The membership card has the date and a red cross on the front and a full 1936 calendar on the back. Some yellowing with age, but nothing that mars this nice piece of memorabilia. |
