Very, Very Early Book called BESIDE THE BONNIE BRIER BUSH by Ian Maclaren. This book is in Huxfords Value Guide, showing the 1894 copyright edition as being quite valuable.
This book is by Dodd, Mead & Co. Copyright dated 1894. It is tight in the binding, no missing or ripped pages. The outside hardback cover has only age wear, no rips or tears on it either.
Ian Maclaren is the pen name of Dr. John Watson, a popular preacher and able minister. He published a number of religious works under his own name, but as Ian Maclaren he was known as a leading member of the Kailyard School of Scottish fiction which came into being towards the end of the nineteenth century. Maclaren's first work in this genre, is this volume, Beside the Bonnie Brier Bush.
