Here’s a real find. Six wonderful cabinet cards of a small town parade that looks like a 4th of July celebration. Because one of the floats looks like a battleship from the Spanish-American War, I suspect the year is 1898. The outfits on the people fit this period.
The floats are fantastic! One is the battleship with a big tall funnel. Admiral Dewey had just won the Battle of Manilla Bay, so that is probably what inspired the float. Another float is a swan boat. Another is some kind of giant flower garden with people’s heads peeking out to form the flowers. Classic. There are also several images of flower bedecked carriages with ladies in white dresses with white parasols.
Interestingly, in the foreground of several of the shots, you can see the shadows of what are probably the photographer and some onlookers.
Size: Images are 4" x 5". Mounts are 5 1/2" x 6 1/2". Condition is ranges from fair to excellent. The mounting cards have some water damage around the edges, but the images themselves are in excellent condition. Four of the images have almost no wear at all, two have some stains, but as you can see in the scans, enjoyment of the images is not a problem. These are straight, unadjusted scans.
These are a real delight.
