1898 billhead and collection letter from C. H. Feete & Bro, dealers in "Furniture of all Kinds, Carpets, Mattings, Picture Frames and Novelties, New and Repair Work Done, Undertaking and Embalming a Specialty." (what a business!)
The receipt (statement of account) is for a lamp, bed, mattress and buffet sold to one D.F. Whitmore, the cost of which amounted to $11.25. The handwritten letter at the bottom reads: "This goods was delivered with a distinct understanding that it was to be paid for when the B & O laid off here in March, He promised to come to our Office and pay just as soon as the car came in, we let him have it on these promises only + told him so at the time as we did not care to let him have the goods on credit, He has not as yet showed up at all. This matter is now in your hands proceed as you think best. Resp(ectful)ly, C. H. Feete & Bro.
This item is in excellent condition with no tears, normal horizontal envelope folds and one slight soil spot. It is an excellent item for your paper and ephemera collection. |
