This original postcard is from the 1933 Century Of Progress (Chicago World's Fair) which was held in Chicago. It is in excellent condition and the front features "View Across the Lagoon, Chicago World's Fair". The reverse side features a postcard format, which is unused and a paragraph that says "Electricity's wizardy will be unfolded in this sickle-shaped group of buildings at A Century of Progress, Chicago's International Exposition in 1933. Embellished with hanging gardens, steel cypress trees, electric cascades & fountains, gilded pylons & paved terraces, this structure, 1,200 feet long by 300 feet wide, presents the last word in modern architectural phantasy. A semi-circular unit, shown on the right, will house exhibits of telephone and telegraph communication. On the extreme left is the unit devoted to the wonders of radio and television. White, red, yellow, gold, blue and silver will be the colors used to decorate this extremely striking group" and measures approx. 5 1/2" x 3 1/2". |
