This very collectible Original Bordens "Elsie the Cow" String Holder measures 8" high and is made of chalk. Its paint is original and it is in very good to excellent condition - having no chips or cracks or repairs. But remember this is chalkware and it does show slight crazing due to age. It still has its original wire hanger on the back for hanging on the wall. I understand that this was first given as a pair which included Elmer the bull as premiums to employees and later sold in very limited supply to the public.
I only have the Elsie which was given to me by my Dad who also collects string holders. It listed for $425.00 in the 2007 "Schroeder’s Antiques Price Guide" on page 521. Please email me any questions you may have.
