Circa: mid-1900's Condition: Good++
This is a nice vintage 1950's era motorcycle with rider trophy or paperweight ornament. It is nicely detailed, much like the street bikes of the era, with the old style handlebars and helmet. It is part of a collection of cast hood and trophy ornaments we are presently listing for sale, most from the mid-1900's to 1980's era. This one is not marked by the maker. This one is die cast metal, and the metal seems to have plenty of nickel or pewter in the alloy as there is no rust present even though is the not chrome plated. It weighs about 1/2 pounds and is solid, not hollowed out like most others from the collection. It is also smaller. The casting is 3.2" long overall, and about 3.7" tall (not including the threaded stud). Note the design of the base, can be attached to most any type of material as long as a counter bore hole is suppied for a 1/4-20 nut to hold it in place. The casting is nicely detailed, no pits, smooth surfaces, a few tiny imperfections, that could be polished out, one larger area on the rider's back needs finishing. The threaded stud is well attached. Would make a nice vintage trophy, or desk paper weight! Unique! |
