Circa: 1922-1944 Country of Origin: Japan Manufacturer: Noritake
Noritake lusterware butter or cheese dish. Hand painted porcelain dish having a cheerful, serene setting of a pair of red and white poppies against a sunset-orange sky.
Poppies have beautifully detailed centers, and long, dark stems, and are accompanied by a foursome of bright green leaves. In the background we see a lone, green mountain beside the shimmering sea. All designs on the lid are handpainted in vibrant colors over the luster glaze. The knob on the lid is a pair of orange rose buds; the larger bud in its opening stage. The bottom dish has a white center, blue border and black trim, along with the pretty luster glaze.
Made in Japan. Marked with the 'M' in the wreath for the Morimura Brothers.
Size: Dish stands approximately 2 inches high. The lid itself measures 1 3/4 inches tall by 5 1/4 inches wide, and the plate measures 6 5/8 inches.
Condition: Very good, no chips or cracks. |
