This wonderful Russian lacquer box was made by the Agidel Workshop in the Bashkir Region of Russia. It dates c. 1980s and measures 4" x 2 3/4" x 1 1/2". It is titled Pheasants.
A tremendous amount of work goes into the making and decoration of a Russian lacquer box. It takes about 30 days to make a box. Then it is hand decorated with oil paintes and gold and wilver powder to highlight details. The work is o fine much is done under a magnifying lass using a single hair of a feather for a brush.
