This pretty glass flower vase Christmas ornament was made in Germany before the 1920s. Made of mercury silvered blown glass and painted with a red finish, it has a long pike stem and a flattened bottom to stand upright. It's wrapped with lots of fine gauge gold crinkled wire and has a wired length of gold tinsel attached to form the vase handle. A blue fabric flower with lacquered red center is inserted into the pike opening.
About 6 inches tall overall, the flower has some age discoloration and soiling. Otherwise the vase is in excellent condition for its age, the red finish having few of the scratches from contact with the wires that you normally find on this type of ornament.
