Great old bread knife, with a well-marked blade signed: Thomas Mfg. Co.- Dayton, Ohio – Warranted – Burns Patent No. 1388547. That patent number dates to: filed September 25, 1919 and was granted August 23, 1921 to Joseph E. Burns of Syracuse, N.Y. as a serrating edge cutting tool.
Total length is 13-1/4 inches with a 9-inch blade, which is serrated into 6 different areas. The wood handle has been painted white, and the old paint is scuffed in a few areas, and the blade has some edge damage as well, from age and use. Looking from one side it looks good; from the other side the there is edge wear near the point extending for about an inch.
