This hand painted Christmas Ornament, Dinosaurs , is called Inside Art. Manufactured by Chase International in 1999, they were made in China and distributed by FIGI Graphics Inc., San Diego, CA., USA.
The centuries-old artistic tradition of reverse painting on the inside of glass. Through a small opening in each ornament, the artist uses delicate brush strokes to hand-paint on the inside of mouth-blown glass. From outlining to shading to color application, all work is painstakingly done in free hand. An artist may take several days to complete a single piece. This reverse-painting art form flourished during the 17th century, however today there are only a few artist groups, living in remote villages thoughout China, who possess the skill to create these ornaments.
It comes in a hand-loomed silk damask box that is numbered TR-SA-96046 with a bone enclosure and protected on all sides by the padded silk-lined interior.
In very good + condition it measures 3 inches tall and 2 3/4 inches wide.
