This hand painted Christmas Ornament, Light of Glory, is called Inside Art. Manufactured by Chase International in 1999, they were made in China and distributed by FIGI Graphics Inc., San Diego, CA., USA.
The centuries-old artistic tradition of reverse painting on the inside of glass. Through a small opening in each ornament, the artist uses delicate brush strokes to hand-paint on the inside of mouth-blown glass. From outlining to shading to color application, all work is painstakingly done in free hand. An artist may take several days to complete a single piece. This reverse-painting art form flourished during the 17th century, however today there are only a few artist groups, living in remote villages thoughout China, who possess the skill to create these ornaments.
It comes in a hand-loomed silk damask box which is numbered #TR-LE-71748 with a bone enclosure and protected on all sides by the padded silk-lined interior.
Beautifully detailed Mary and Baby Jesus surrounded by a blue and white sky.
In very good + condition it does have a brown spot on the back which I have shown in my pictures and it measures 4 3/4 inches tall and 2 inches wide and also comes with a booklet.
