Nine antique enameled tin candle holders from the late 1800s. They were made to clip onto Christmas tree branches and held real, lit candles in the days before electric Christmas lights. Later on this type of candle holder was imported from Germany, but these are the original American made clips with the shovel-shape backs. Not quite 2 inches long, the flower petal candle holders are painted in bright primary enamels: blue, yellow, orange, and red. The backs are painted as well. A few have bits of old candle wax residue but the paint is still in wonderful condition for their 120 year age. All of the springs and clamps are in good working order. Nine unused slim spiral wax candles are included, about 4 inches high and in various colors.
