25" A rare very early 20th century Vienna Workshop style, hand hammered, silvered copper shield as a wall hanging. Has a great & classic proletariat theme of peasants, sickles in hand, harvesting the wheat. The raised edge is decorated in relief with a wheat, grapes, corn, berries & tobacco medallions, with a repeating pattern of wheat stalks crossed with a sickle, pitchfork, rake, & scythe. Oozes emerging socialism. |
