Circa: 1950s Country of Origin: United States Manufacturer: Mid Century American Production
This Mid Century ceiling light fixture with glass shade has a nautical ship's wheel base with eight wooden pegs as the spokes radiating out from the flush-mount brown woodgrain painted metal frame. The white and clear glass shade is ribbed around the sides and has a wavy, faceted pattern to refract the light from the twin sockets inside. The inner panel below the sockets has a crackle-effect silver foiled lining. There's faded yellow label inside which appears to be removable, it's no longer readable.
The metal base is marked for 75 watt or lower bulbs. The fixture is 15-1/2" diameter across the wooden spokes. The glass shade is 10-1/2" diameter by 4 inches deep, overall height of the fixture with mounted shade is about 5-1/4 inches. The buyer may wish to replace the older cloth-covered wiring. The wooden spokes have some minor age wear to the finish - no damage, just some dryness to the wood (a little Murphy's oil soap will restore the appearance). The glass shade has no chips or damage.
